Stout, secure, simple
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Thule Verse is a fantastic bike rack that combines sturdiness, security, and simplicity. Designed for easy transport, it securely holds two bikes with a strong, hitch-mounted design. It has a great tilt-down feature that allows trunk access while bikes are still mounted to the rack. Additionally, the large ratcheting arms and rear wheel straps keep bikes secure even on bumpy dirt roads. The tool-free installation is another big win!
Best pound for pound rack!
I went back and forth between many racks and I think that this is the best option on the market when comparing the price to the features and weight limits. The 60lbs is great at this price point. I like that the loaded tilt handle is on the end of the rack to make it easily accessible with bikes on it. I also liked that it took just me less than 30 minutes to assemble it, with no assistance required. The tool free wheel adjustment is nice and the bike feels nice and sturdy when it's locked in. Anecdotally speaking, the hitch on my car isn't very high so I appreciate the rack's design of raising up just as it comes out of the receiver to give a little extra clearance off the back of the car. The things that concern me / I wish could be improved: 1. I wish that the included lock was integrated into the rack somehow (like the Kuat). You can secure the bike to the built in lock, but there's no elegant way to store the hefty cable when not in use. 2. The integrated locking handle is a KIPP handle! this is not outlined clearly in the instructions. The handle pulls out so you can turn the handle, then pull it out and turn it back and then crank again until it's tight. 3. On the subject of the plastic locking handle, I don't like that it's the lowest point of the rack and it will be the first thing to scrape/ brake if I can't clear a low dip. It should be a metal handle and designed with some kind of skid plate. I'm concerned that the plastic handle will brake and then I won't be able to get the rack off. Overall, it's super easy to use day to day and I'm happy with the purchase.
Solid rack design
I am happy with this rack. It replaced my 17 yr old Thule hitch rack because I wanted a tool-free install. I thought the assembly instructions were clear, I liked the small plastic parts that are only used in installation to make it easier to assemble. Some have complained about the use of plastic, but I thought the parts that need to be metal are metal, the rack bases, the base of the crank, the arm internals. My old Thule rack has plastic parts and they are still working fine (if faded from the sun a bit). I like the fact the bike tire holders can move a few inches side-to-side to help carry two bikes better.
Well thought through, high quality rack.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Im really excited to receive my thule verse 2 Rack. It took about 20 minutes to assemble and was incredibly easy to put together. The system developed made it so everyone could assemble, and came with all of the tools you will need.
Good product not good assembly directions.
Only half dozen trips but so far, learning to like what I have. Bikes are firmly in place and two points of contact are easy to manage when cinching up the bike. I will say that if not for a You tube video assembly would have taken a very long time! Pictures with little to know explanation just don’t cut it. Would recommend the product, Thule has been consistently good over many years.
Solid rack, MTB doesn't wobble, easy to mount bike
The bike rack is solid and incredibly easy to use. My mountain bike has a larger wheelbase and runs 29" wheels front and rear, so I needed a rack that could securely hold it without any wobble – especially when driving on highways or dirt roads. That back and forth motion was my biggest complaint with the rack I replaced, and this rack has been rock solid. It only took me less than 30 minutes to the rack together which was a nice bonus. I've used it about six times so far, and it's performed great each time. It's also worth mentioning my experience with REI's customer service – absolutely top-notch. I bought this rack the day it was released. Installation was a breeze until the final step: attaching the four plastic end caps. They were noticeably smaller than the tubes and didn’t click into place as designed or shown in Thule's install video. I had to gently tap them in with a rubber mallet, and even then, they didn't align properly with the slots. Additionally, the rubber pad meant to prevent the rack from scraping the ground when lowered was loose. I tried several times to secure it, but it just wouldn’t stay in place. Honestly, I think I got a lemon because the replacement rack I received didn’t have any of these issues. While the flaws were purely cosmetic, this isn’t exactly a budget rack—so exchanging it felt completely justified.
Stellar Product & Design
This bike rack is awesome and every part of it shows how high-quality it is. The instructions are very clear - my partner and I assembled it in less than half an hour. I put it on our 2000 Chevy Astro van and it fits and looks great. There are no quirks to this bike racks unlike others I have used. The rack accommodates both of our mountain bikes perfectly. It is sturdy and is perfect for roads that are not paved.
Overall best bike rack
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this bike rack. It keeps my bike safe while traveling to the trails and is easy to use. All the handles on this rack are solid and feel durable. one of my favorite new features is the adjustable front wheel tray which can be repositioned without the use of any tools. I also love that I don't have to worry about straps or clamps scratching my bike frame. All straps and clamps are designed to not leave marks whether it's the position of the clamps or the rubber to protect the straps. So far, loving this new bike rack.
thoughtful design and so easy to use!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Showed up in plastic-free packaging which is a major win, and assembly took less than 15 minutes start to finish thanks to good instructions and the super helpful video on the product page. I have it installed on my 2023 Bronco and the rack stays super secure on all terrain. Have used it for MTB, road, and gravel bikes, both my small sizes and my friends larger ones, and adjusting for all of them has been super seamless. Honestly just a great functional product that does the job perfectly (and looks good too!)
Great rack. Some issues
This rack is a second rack for a new car. Ease of assembly, sturdy build - all I've come to expect from Thule. On the negative side, this rack has no wheels to move it around and doesn't actually sit without leaning making it inconvenient for the normal offs and ons.
