Rated 2 out of 5 by from disappointing I love Planet Bike's stuff, so this was disappointing. I haven't had these very long, but some of the pegs that hold the rubber strap system have already broken. I love my Planet Bike Cascadia fenders I have on my other bike, and I wish I would have bought another pair of those instead. They are more time consuming to put on and take off, but they stay put and nothing has broken on them. I guess these are tolerable though, but I will keep plenty of zip ties on hand. I have always found Planet Bikes stuff to be amazing, for a really reasonable price, so this was a bummer. They seem to work for a lot of people, but they're definitely not my favorite. If I take these off to ride a century, they will probably stay off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very impressed I was a little sceptical at first seeing everyone riding around Seattle with monster fenders that nearly touched the ground. After buying and using these they kept tire water off my boddy even during heavy rain. They attach very easily and come off just as easy. I would probably run these even if I did have fender mounts on my bike because of the easy on/off factor. They will rub if not adjusted right but seem to stay in place once adjusted fairly well. Very light too; perfect for the kind of bike that doesn't come with fender mounts. I was also able to cut the rubber straps (that hold the fenders on) in half and so I have spares if the old ones ever wear out. They may not ever wear out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As good as you're going to get. When the forecast changed from sun to driving rain for an 80 mile gravel grinder I was riding the next day, I mounted these on my carbon cyclocross bike at the last minute. I'd say installation took about half an hour and was relatively straight-forward if you're even a little mechanically inclined. There was some adjustment required, and I had to jury-rig some of the zip ties to get a good fit. One installed however, I was amazed at how sturdy these were. If you have eyelets on your bike, then sure, there are better alternatives. But if not, these are definitely as good as they come. Even with the zip-ties, the fenders are still quite adjustable, and I was able to set them up so that there was plenty of clearance on a set of 32c tires with zero rubbing. The ride ended up being a mud-fest. There was driving rain, headwinds, washboards, and tire eating gravel for about half of the ride. To my amazement these fenders weathered it all. They were quiet, didn't rub and hardly moved, even over rough roads. As I finished a buddy asked me why I was so clean, when he was caked in mud - I gave a nod to these solid fenders.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Full Coverage I commute rain or shine so I have a road bike with disk breaks for better stopping, but this does not allow normal fenders to be attached. However, these fenders work great with disk breaks and they cover the full length of the wheel offering better protection from road mud for me and my components. These fenders are easy to attach and detach after you have initially installed them, but it took a lot of time getting the correct alignment. Also, the instructions are not very clear, though most people should be able to work through it. I was not able to find another product that has all of the following qualities: full coverage, fits with disk brakes, has mud flaps, and high quality. I would give this 5 stars but I would have preferred something more permanently attachable.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Finicky and hard to adjust Very hard to adjust to keep from rubbing on wheels. What's more, with the bumps of urban riding, the rubber straps holding the fenders in place are prone to slipping, causing the fender to contact the wheel. I had to take these back and go with a quick release dirt board.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty good so far I don't get some of the negative reviews for this product. Sure I'm always skeptical when a bike product relies on rubber straps and zip ties, however my commuter bike with disc brakes is difficult to find fenders that are compatible. These installed easily and they work well. So far so good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'll be buying a set for my other bike I bought a set to use with my commuter bike (cyclocross w/disk brakes). I find they go on quick and easy. I utilize zip-ties to attach at the top of the fork, bottom bracket and the top mount on the rear. Once adjusted I have never had to readjust. Takes less than 5 minutes to install them.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible Experience With These Fenders I bought these fenders for my Surly Long Haul Trucker Touring bike. I did a bike trip self supported with UK friend through Thailand, Laos and Cambodia in January/February, 2008. The mounting of these fenders leaves a lot to be desired. The bracket which was provided to mount to the rear fork did not fit without tire/rack interference but it fit perfectly in the front fork. This caused the rear fender, as it lacked adequate firm mounting on top, to constantly rub the tires or whenever I hit a bump in the road. The mounting of the rer fender to the frame hole of the bike left a lot to be desired. These fenders are made out of a cheap plastic, and it cracked almost immediately upon mounting, but because I was in Bangkok at the time, I had to work around it, but the cracking got worse and worse, to where later in the trip, it just broke apart and I had to discard the fender. Upon return to States, I contacted Planet bike about these fenders and was told they had a lifetime warranty and they would send me a new set of fenders...but after repeated contact, I've yet to receive anything. I would not recommend purchasing these fenders at all...they're cheap, the mounting is insufficient, and the fender design is not good at all.

How will these work on a bike with 650b X 35mm tires?

Asked by: judybikes
They can work, but there will be a greater gap between the wheel and the fender, than if used on a 700c tire.

will these fenders fit fly by folding bike 2014?

Asked by: Cyclo camper
The SpeedEZ fenders will be too big for the Novara FlyBy. The SKS Mini 20 Mudguards can be ordered directly from Dahon bikes.
