Best fit of any hiking shoe
This is a purely subjective observation of course, and your mileage will vary, but the best fit and comfort choices I’ve experienced in a hiking shoe. Better made and with more lateral support than even high end running shoes, makes for a great city trekker! Pity it’s discontinued but I’ll watch for others by Keen

Wide
There is a lot of volume in this shoe. No where that I could find in the description did it mention that they are for wide feet. They would save some money on returns if they mention this.

Terrific - Comfortable and Dry

I have done a few shorter, light, dry hikes in these shoes. For this purpose, they are comfortable and trustworthy over rocky terrain, trails with roots and loose dirt/gravel. Very good in that application. But the better, if a little more odd test, was the golf course. I coach high school golf, and every spring I roam woods and creek beds and wet/dewy high grasses for hours on end. Wearing normal running shoes, I inevitably wound up with wet, cold feet. In these shoes - wearing wool socks on colder days - over a full season my feet stayed warm and bone dry. I am very much looking forward to my experience with these Keens, based on these first 9 months of ownership.

Comfortable, good looking, falling apart

Pretty disappointed in the overall quality. First thing, these shoes are comfortable, supportive, and good looking. However, after playing 4 rounds of disc golf, the tow split and is peeling off. I hike in the White Mountains which is full of granite rock piles, which was the intention of these shoes...but after 4 rounds of playing disc golf, they are already falling apart. No way they'd survive our mountains.

Great walking shoe with no real break-in period.

This shoe was comfortable and true to Keen traditional fit. It provided solid support, and all day walking comfort right out of the box. I walked all over Washington DC (3-5 miles a day) with one large 8 mile day. My feet and legs never felt fatigued, and they were not sore the next day. The toe box provides ample room and the snug heel cup ensures the shoe never slipped. I doubt this shoe is robust enough anything but light trail hiking, but it did a great job with the concrete of a big city. No real complaints.

Hiking shoe review

I am on my third pair of these hiking shoes. I walk at least 4 miles, 5 or 6 days per week. I probably get 400 to 500 miles on a pair of shoes before the soles wear out. The arch support seems to be better than most hiking shoes that I have tried. It's a little thing, but the laces don't wear out before the soles.

Extra sturdy

More of a low cut hiking boot than an athletic shoe with a lug sole. Seem to run a bit long and wide in the forefoot. Very sturdy and comfortable for me.

Shoe-be-do-be-do!

Comfortable, lightweight, and definitely waterproof. They get abused at my outdoor job but have maintained their waterproofing.

Waterproof - Yes. Durable - No.

Sole started to separate only a few months after purchase. I use the shoes for playing disc golf about once a week since early June. After only having the shoe for 2 1/2 months, the sole started to separate on the left shoe. I love the comfort of the shoes, and they are definitely waterproof. Just disappointed in the quality and longevity of the shoes, especially since they are one of the most expensive shoes I've purchased and lasted the shortest amount of time.

Very sturdy and comfortable footing

I’ve worn KEEN Men's Zionic Waterproof Hiking Shoes hiking shoes for about ten months (2~11/2025) on trails, cobblestone streets during trip to European cities, and for everyday walks. After comparing several options at REI and testing a few at home, I chose this pair for the stable support under my heels and around my Achilles. The sole feels sturdy, grippy, and secure on uneven terrain, giving a wide, steady footing rather than a narrow, wobbly feel. The waterproofing has performed well in rain and around puddles, though the shoes can run a bit warm—likely the trade-off for water resistance. I’ve noticed the newer model appears to use a more mesh-like material (in the pictures), so breathability may different. Despite being hiking shoes, they look and feel appropriate for daily use without seeming loud or overly “mountaineering.” Overall, I love the heel support and grip and plan to buy them again. Of note, I’m used to heavy, hard-soled boots, Zamberlan VIOZ GTX, so my sense of what feels “light” and “grippy” may differ from others.
