Purchased these for a casual trip to the tropics as an all-around travel shoe (no clue how or why anyone would hike in these). These are fashion shoes and as such I like the tan/red color quite a bit as they work with several outfits. However, the toe box is strangely narrow for Keens. I almost returned them, but oddly once I removed the stock insole and added a Solestar insole the toe room improved to the point where these are comfortable. This is strange as most aftermarket insoles are thicker than stock. You may want to buy a half size up. The shoes have little structure, and I would never consider taking them on uneven terrain, but they look good and in the end that is all that matters!
These replaced my Solomons! After wearing Solomon XA Pros for quite sometime, and being pretty unimpressed with the recent quality (I'm on my third pair, used for daily wear on and off duty as a firefighter) I decided to try something new. These Keens are awesome! They are very stable with a much more rigid sole. The foam extends up the side of the arch adding even more stability. They're shockingly light for being a waterproof shoe with dense rubber treads. They also stay very cool, the breathability is excellent. My only complaint is I wish they had a slightly more aggressive tread like a vibram, but their design seems to be fine for most applications. These do run large, I normally wear a 12.5 or 13 and the 12 fits perfect.
Very light, extremely comfortable, stable underfoot. Moves like a trail runner while protecting you like a big boot. Couldn’t be more happy with this purchase. First big hike with them was a 14’er and while my legs have pain, my feet feel great. Grip was amazing on pitched boulders.
Poor quality workmanship on the inside seams where the waterproof material was sewn between tongue and side seam
I just got these so this is a very preliminary review that I’ll update. Right out of the box these shoes are quite comfortable and fit well, which is uncommon for me. I’m going to the Azores soon where weather is fickle. So sturdy and waterproof footwear seems important to have.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I couldn't be happier with this purchase. I wore them almost exclusively on a recent trip to upstate NY and NYC. I took them on wet and muddy trails as well as walking miles in the city without skipping a beat. Very comfortable, easy to slip on and off with laces tied but didn't feel loose on my feet at all. I hope they last a while as I'm sure they'll replace my everyday sneakers and casual hiking boots.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] ive only had a chance to wear them hiking in the rain once so far and they're very comfortable and can take a beating plus my feet were dry as a bone, sometimes different boots will make my knee hurt on one side but I have had no problem with wearing these. I also worr them for work and they were great standing for 8 hours on concrete and they never hurt my feet, perfect shoes.
Shoe design and construction was good. Returned because Keen uses non-standard shoe sizing. I missed in the description that a US size 15 was only an EU size 48. For nearly all shoe manufacturers, sold on REI, a size US 15 is the same as EU 50.
Surprisingly, these Keen low height hiking shoes are so comfortable that they actually feel like my ASICS Kayano running shoes. When I tried them on at a nearby REI store, I was stunned by their comfort. In fact, I had a double check with the shoe specialist that they were hiking shoes, and they were waterproof, which he confirmed for me.
These shoes are much narrower and smaller toe box than the previous Zionic. I love my Zionic hiking boots but these shoes hurt my feet, especially in the toe box. I wish I had returned them, however I waited to long.
