These shoes are great. Lightweight and sturdy. And I love REI, because I accidentally bought a pair that was too large, wore them a little bit before I figured out. They were too big, and the store let me bring them back. I bought another pair but the correct size. The staff was super accommodating.
These shoes look and feel great, but more than once I've been surprised how slippery they are on wet concrete. The aggressive tread will probably compensate on wet trails, but I'ld have serious doubts about them on the side of Half Dome in a sudden rain storm. Use caution unless you live in a desert.
I was looking for a lightweight sturdy, and attractive shoe for the springtime, during which I will be doing some hiking/walking in Nebraska. I generally love my Keen's and Merrill's, but they are heavier. This is compounded by the fact that I wear a rocker brace to keep my leg on my foot (years of basketball injuries and no cartilage or tendons remain). So I have to be able to accommodate the brace and use my own orthotics.
The Apex waterproof is a very comfortable shoe. Mine is an 8. 5 wide and is true to size. The toe box is wide and perfect. The black is very subtle.
I bought these waterproof hikers to keep my feet warm and dry. They are comfortable and good looking. The problem is that I find the soles to be hazardously slippery on wet surfaces. I live in rainy Oregon and have slid on wet sidewalks, fallen off the wet step of my truck, and have serious concerns for Half Dome hikers trapped by rain storms.
Excellent fit. I usually need an extra wide but these regular width shoes have nice toebed space for me. Good solid feel but lightweight at the same time. True to size. They feel like comfortable sneakers but with a stiffer sole for light hiking. Havent yet been out on the trail but looking forward to it.
Super comfortable right out of the box…have not put many miles on them yet, but if my other Keen footwear experiences holds true, then they should be great as well. These are lightweight and will shed water…perfect for day hikes!
Right out of box they were completely comfortable and had the stability i wanted Love the fit and wide toe box. I wear my KEENS for walking, hiking and most of all golfing. The fit was just as expected based on the KEENS I already own.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve owned over 25 different Keen boots or shoes for as long as I can remember but this one style finally hit a brick wall. Contrary to the sizing guide, it doesn’t fit even if the laces are totally loose and it’s totally uncomfortable
