[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using this headlamp for a couple of years now and love it! Several settings give you the option for bright or dimmer, spotlight or flood. The red light feature is great for hunting! The "warning" light lets you know when it's getting time to re-charge. Great headlamp!
I received this headlamp during the Outdoor Retailer Show a couple of months ago and have been pleasantly surprised by it's performance. The headlamp is reallt bright on the high setting which I've only used when I needed to see long distances. My favorite setting is the flood light which I used exclusively during a 3 hour nighttime hike to the summit of Mt. Bierstadt in Colorado. The low, flood setting provided enough light for me to safely hike along and didn't blind my hiking partner when we stopped to catch our breath during the hike. The lockout mode has also been great for conserving the battery when I have the headlamp stuffed in my pack between uses.
I bought this less than a week ago to use while setting up my telescope out in the dark skies of the Arizona Desert. First night only lasted about 2 hours just using the red light, whole reason I bought was for preserving night vision! Next night after 5 minutes stopped every time I turn on all bulbs flash twice and shutoff! I looked at the web page and no information at all on troubleshooting this! I’m mad since I bought it 400 miles from here and it is unreliable!
Hello Rick, Thank you for taking the time to leave us this review. Based on the video you provided, you inadvertently locked out the light. If you hold the switch down until it flashes three times (approx 5 secs) your headlamp will be restored to the 5 function mode. We are working on getting the copy added to our site that outlines the lockout mode operation. If your light continues to give you problems, please contact Customer Service at info@niteize.com or 800.678.6483 M-F 8 AM – 5 PM MST.
I recently used this for a round trip from Boulder to Longs Peak. I road up in the daylight got some sleep then started the hike with the headlamp around 3am. It really light up the trail. I had not expected to be riding back at night but it happened and I did not have lights on my bike. I strapped the headlamp to my seat post and turned on the red light. It made me much more comfortable to know people could see me.
Works perfect for me. During winter to do some work outdoors. Or in dark spaces, or also tight spaces like in the boot of a car or when checking under the car. It would, however, be helpful to print a short symbol explaining the lockout feature. It's a very useful feature, preventing to empty the battery while the light is packed. But I needed some time to find out how it works. And judging by some reviews, some guys here never figured it out and wrote negative reviews without understanding how it works. So a small print on top "press 5 sec for lockout" would help a lot.
This is a good middle of the road headlamp. I find that it isn't the lightest, nor the best built in terms of feel and quality, but it is certainly above average. the biggest complaint I have is that the button to turn on the main lamp is rather large and easy to press by accident. I have opened my pack and found that my light had been turned on at some point during the hike, draining the battery. It isn't the be all end all however, just something to keep in mind. It is well and truly bright enough and the battery lasts a long while in my experience.
I cannot wear this without a baseball hat. The two times that I did, the light fell onto the bridge of my nose and cut it both times, even with the head band tightened properly. The light is fine ... not super strong but works when walking the dogs. I have a different light that I like much better as it lasts longer between charges, is much brighter and has a cross strap that runs along to top of my head to prevent it from falling onto my face. Bottom line is that the lamp weight is to heavy for the single strap.
Solid rechargeable headlamp. Very easy to figure out how to us. It's a little bulky, but does exactly what it is supposed to do. I wear the headlamp Monday thru Friday for about 30 of use each morning. A full charge lasts me the thru the week.
i had to return it because it heated up fairly quickly & was warm in my forehead. It may have just been the obe I got - I can’t see this ever making it to production with a flaw like this. otherwise- I liked the weight, the strap was comfortable, it has a narrow & broad light setting & you can tilt it to adjust where its pointing. I’ll give it 4 stars because I think this unit was flawed.
NiteIze just keeps putting out new and better products. These rechargeable headlamps are excellent. They are very bright and offer multiple adjustments for light intensity and best of all they are rechargeable. The price is also very reasonable. I have more than one and keep them handy for my car, garage, and in the house and rely on them constantly.
