This light is powerful, comfortable, the burn times on the low/medium settings are unbelievable. Feels well built, the switches are crisp, the charging port is above average, well sealed. The straps are wide, which is necessary with the weight of the light. I, and several others who tried the light on, found it to be very comfortable. There is strip of soft plastic on the inside front of the head band that provided extra grip, keeping the light in place. I recommend this product to everyone who wants lots of photons and battery capacity. It might be to much for those who are advocating a minimalist experience. I expect the dependability and endurance of this light to be excellent.
I used this light for the Big Foot 200 foot race - which took over 78 hours. I loved it!! The battery life is fantastic and it’s easy to order extra rechargeable batteries. Changing batteries is so easy. The light sits a bit heavy (mainly due to the battery) on my head, but that’s a small price to pay to a light THAT WORKS. I finally found my light!
This is an outstanding headlamp. It offers a both spot and flood lamps with a decent run-time. The battery (18650) can be swapped out for a spare one if needed. (It will work on two 123A batteries, but the life is shorter.) The headband works well and sticks well to my round head - most headlamps don't do well on me. It's a medium weight headlamp, so the top strap is needed. One item to note - it does not swivel up, only down. For me, this has not been an issue as I usually have to tilt it down.
I bought this headlamp a few weeks ago in preparation for some caving and night time hiking. This headlamp has been an absolute joy to use, the controls are simple and easy to manipulate with gloves, the battery life is great especially for caving where I needed the highest power for over 2.5 hours. Overall very solid headlamp that fits comfortably even on big headed people like me and works in all conditions I have put it through so far.
Light is very bright and does a good job with both spot light and flood light options. Minus one star because they made the 18650 battery in it just a hair longer than standard so you'd have to buy their batteries, in stead of the many other commercially available standard ones.
I use this headlamp quite often for working late at night. Battery life is great and doesn’t over heat.
We use this headlamp for working at night to repair and install air conditioners. Works great for seeing tight spots.
Perfect headlamp. Both spot and flood, long battery life. Comfortable, not too heavy.
Extremely torn! I really like Fenix lights. I've been using a PD35 handheld for my ultras since 2014. This particular headlamp is awesome and I did a ton of research before buying. Here's where the "torn" part covers in. I had been living in ignorant bliss with my 2014 version that I did not know Fenix has d switched to proprietary length 18650 batteries for their products. I loath proprietary arguments so much, I even refuse to ever own an iPhone. So frustrated with Fenix for going this route that I may even return the headlamp! I have been using 18650's for my other Fenix flashlight for so long and those non-proprietary batteries have all been amazing, so the "quality control argument" holds no water with me. I've seen a "hack" to but spacers, but that's not ideal either. Overall, I'm super bummed, and the one other person that commented about the battery on here was completely right (I didn't want to believe it when I made the purchase). And to another comment about "it's easy to find batteries" yeah, for sure, on Fenix's website. But, as a consumer I want choices and using Fenix's website to choose which mAH level I want is not the choices I'm talking about. Dang it! I really did love this headlamp!
I have not had much opportunity to use this yet, but it appears to have all the features I desired and work as promised.
