I bought the foam green color, it’s beautiful, very comfortable and light
I love New Balance shoes, in fact its the only brand of shoe I own! I was quite looking forward to trying these out but was extremely appalled when I realised just how poor the build quality of the Fresh Foam X 880v14 shoe was - After just 1 run on a treadmill the soles on the heel and toe area began to peel and the sidewalls were cracked, frayed and starting to split. Save your money and buy different running shoes...

880 has been my staple running shoe for 4 years now. Love the wide toe box and the fit. More cushion and bounce compared to the previous version while not feeling like running on a marshmallow. The top fabric is very supportive (vs a thin film seen on light shoes) and i like it. Overall very happy with the shoe.
Got a rock on the bottom of my shoe, not sure if they are for outside but the rock pushed through bottom of my shoe and my insole, I had new insoles with plastic support on the bottom so I never noticed the rock til today. I ordered June sometime. So not very long for a shoe to hold up
Love the fit pof the 880s. I'm not a heavy duty runner. Boought these back in February 2024. I've had some problems with my arthritic knee so it's prevented my from really reunning on a regular basis and I mostly walk 4 blocks and run a1-2 blocks in NYC. Trying to increase that. Unfortunately the right inside heel began to deteriorate. I now have a 1"x 3/4" hole that's develop in that heel. Very disappointing. Not sure it's the quality of materials or some problem witht the way the sneaker was manufactured or some combination of both. I'm asking my shoe repair person to see if he can put some kind of patch there. The shoes are practically brand new and I boughta a second pair which I haven't even used yet.
I use these almost daily. Mostly on pavement and packed gravel trail. My distance is between 3-6 miles and I am out there 5+ days a week. I really am liking the most recent update to v14. IMO, the quality has increased from prior versions. I would sometimes get tears along the sole and even some holes at some of the toes. I am on my second pair of v14 and have had none of these issues. New Balance has always been my go to for a wider fit and a bit wider toe box. I have high instep and I find NB to be the best sneaker for me. I can lace up pretty snuggly without cutting into my feet. The cushioning is good, but does wear for me just a slight bit fast.
This might be a somewhat different type of review. I have flat feet and has a nasty case of plantar fasciitis over the summer. I tried so many shoes until I got the the 880v14. My feet loved them, I loved them. What went wrong? After about two months of ownership the shoes began stink. I’m not talking like unwashed smell, I mean the kind of smell where some kind of bacteria has set up a home and is living its best life. I have never had a shoe brand do this, perhaps I was lucky but I can’t wear the shoes I love because the reek so badly. All I have ever done in them was go to the gym. No trail runs, no underwater runs nothing out of the ordinary.
The shoes were fine for about first 300 kms, but started losing outsole extensively at about 350 kms mark. At 430 kms mark the heel part is mostly completely gone and foam collapsed making it not comfortable (and healthy) enough to continue. Runner data: 78 kg (170 lbs), 185 cm (6'1"), short (3-5-10 km) runs on concrete pavement mostly.
This shoe has been great this far for my first half marathon training. It’s a high quality material shoe. It’s a middle of the road weight. FANTASTIC, low arch and ankle support. The top of my foot hasn’t gotten sore from the laces (a common problem I have with shoes). One of the only things I would change is the insole, it doesn’t offer much but the shoe has been amazing with my Currex insoles. I think for a shoe that’s catered to flatter and wider footed runners it would be great to see a little more effort put into the factory insole. Overall HIGHLY recommend the Fresh Foam 880v14, also a very sexy/classic look too!
I have worn 880’s for many years. About every 3 versions, New Balance produces one that is a clunker. Unfortunately, V14 is their latest clunker. It seems there has been some minor redesign of the back of the shoe and whatever it was, I have ended up with sores on the back of both of my feet. Never had this problem before with any other version of 880’s. All I can ask is, please go back to the previous heal design. I will not be able to wear these shoes for either running or everyday walking and I’m planning on stocking up on the previous 880 version whenever I can find them. For me, the V14’s are a big waste of money!
