Nice shirt.
I ordered this shirt for my wife since she liked my earlier model of this shirt. The ordering process was easy, and the shirt arrived within the forecast date range. As it turned out, my wife preferred my older shirt, so I’m now using the new one. This model differs from my earlier purchase in that the fabric is a bit heavier and has a more of a sheen, The main functional difference between the shirts is that this one has snaps instead of buttons. i prefer buttons, and a couple of the snaps require a lot of pressure to close. In other regards, the shirt meets all of my expectations. i’ve not had an opportunity to assess it’s insect-repellent function yet, however.
Issues with new Bugsaway shirt
I was unaware it had steel snaps. They are very hard to unbutton and I worry about tearing them out. Worse, the “hold the cuffs up” snap invisible inside the elbow coincides exactly with the funny bone of my elbows and when I rest my elbows on the table, they dig into my elbow and make my arm go numb. Also, just a trivial cosmetic observation: I leave the top collar button open, fine on my previous shirts of this type, but on this one the fabric is not as stiff and one side of the open collar sags so far open, it uncovers the usually invisible collar of my V-neck T shirt, which makes me feel uncomfortably exposed.
Excellent fit/protection
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is absolutely my most favorite shirt. First the fit is fantastic. I have a broad chest with a waistline that’s not as slim as I’d like. This shirt has the proper amount of room in the chest and a subtle taper so it has a slimming effect, but not too tight at the midsection nor too baggy. Absolutely perfect! Plus the sun protection is great. This is my go to shirt for yard work or if I’m on a hike and want to go to lunch afterwards and look nice. It’s just so dang versatile. And the big protection thing really works! After several washes I still notice substantially fewer bugs bothering me than when I wear other shirts. And it also dries very quickly and holds up to major punishment. Super great purchase!
Doesn't work on mosquitos
The mosquitos are bad where I live in Central VT. I got this shirt a couple of weeks ago so I could throw something on when taking my dog out, doing yard work, and going for walks. Unfortunately, this shirt did not help at all. The mosquitos kept coming at me. I even smooshed one that landed on the arm of this shirt. I still got bitten. It had no effect on the little black flies that buzz around my head. I don't know how well it works on other kinds of bugs. Possibly the shirt will help you if you only go outside a little, or only have a few mosquitos to deal with. But I live in the woods, near a lake, and am sorry I spent so much on a shirt that doesn't do what it's supposed to. Pros: attractive shirt, nice color and pattern (Galaxy), and the fabric is not clingly, so that makes it harder for bugs to bite me. Cons: didn't help at all with keeping mosquitos away.
One of the best
If you want a nice looking casual button up for warmer weather this is unmatched. I wear them often while sailing, on beaches, summer BBQ, etc. Not too formal but nice looking. I have 5 lol
Great Shirt
This shirt is comfortable and well designed for traveling. My only complaint is the sleeves are really long or maybe my arms are getting shorter. This will become one of my favorite shirts.
Great at Assateague
Very effective against the swarms of mosquitoes at Assateague Island. Comfortable and not too hot. Sizes are very small — normally wear a large and needed a XXL for comfortable loose fit
Too big at the waist
Seems to be a nice high quality shirt but the medium is obviously made for men with about a 36" waist. I have a 31" waist so it does not work for me.

Less sports-specific features
We were looking for a shirt for travel that could pass as a dress shirt. We did not notice the large mesh vents in the rear of the armholes. There are also bottom tabs on the upper arms to keep the sleeves rolled up. These may be desirable features for a sport shirt but not what we were looking for. We love the easy-care quick dry fabric and wish EXO would make a shirt that would pass for work wear.
