Great shoes, weak foam

Altra shoes are wonderful, but they only last me 4 months (and thats stretching it). Previous versions only lasted 2 months. I walk about 3-5 miles a day and hyperpronate, particularly on my left side. For the Rivera 1 and 2, this meant the foam was noticeably depressed after about a month on one side of the heel. After two months, the foam was depressed so much that wearing the shoes caused pain. The Rivera 3 seems to have thicker foam, they last about 2-3 months before the foam is depressed noticeably and 4 months before I can't wear the shoes. Still horrible compared to my old hoka (RIP Cavu 1 and 2).

Why not offer Riveras in original or wide fit?

These shoes are awesome, but unfortunately not wide enough for my size 4E foot. Torin 4 was my all-time favorite shoe. Altra ruined the Torin with the horrible tongue and slimmer toe box. Rivera would be perfect Torin replacement if you also offered it in original last. Why only offer it in slim fit? I want to wear this shoe, but it’s just too narrow for me!

Great ride but a little warm

Comfortable fit and ride. I have been getting a half-size up for the 2023 Altras to give my toes a little space to the end, including these - but with the narrower design, that may not work for some due to where they taper in from the toe box. No problems, just something to think about when fitting. I also found that my feet start to get a bit sweaty at about 3 miles in these though, even with light socks. No blisters at 6, but time will tell for longer runs. Great shoes, but not perfect.
