Love this versatile shoe
I love these shoes. I’ve had these shoes for about two weeks now. I have worn them almost every day since I received them. The first thing I noticed when I took them out of the box was how small the shoe looked. So I thought perhaps they sent me the wrong size. But they did indeed send me the correct size . I put them on and they fit like a glove, and for an athletic shoe, they are flattering on me. I normally buy athletic shoes a size and a half larger than my street shoe size . I tend to have a wider forefoot and a normal heel size. I also have flat feet, so going up in size is mainly to accommodate my wide toe spread. But these shoes are exactly my street shoe size, 8.5 ( I usually wear an 8.5 or 9). I probably would be happier in a size 9, but let me tell you : these shoes are a great fit in an 8.5. The top of the shoe is breathable and stretches with movement . I’ve trying wearing them without socks, but I guess I’m not that kind of person in general. Also, there is a spot where the seam of the front part is sewn to the heel that rubbed my foot uncomfortably. I’m happy wearing socks with the shoes and there are no rubbing issues with socks. I’ve used these shoes for walking up and down our very hilly , wild and stony property ( East TN) and it provided great traction and protection. I use them to walk 3 to 3.5 miles everything day they feel great and cause me no knee pain or back pain as many athletic shoes do. I also use them every day for my daily weight and functional strength workouts , and they really are outstanding for that purpose. I highly recommend these shoes.
Good for walking,no ankle support for rough trails
This shoe fits like a glove and is excellent to for easy trails/approaches. The sole is very grippy. The shoe is also stylish enough to wear in the city. However, on rough approaches, I wouldn't rely on these shoes since they have very little ankle support.
Not bulky! Very ideal
Popped these on my feet the moment I got them & have barely taken them off since. They just fit so welllllll. Easy to take off & put on without unlacing. With socks, without socks, it doesn’t matter. They almost look (and somehow kind of feel, but obviously more traditionally comfortable lol) like climbing shoes, which I love because I feel like I could mess around & climb small boulders on hikes more easily than in boots. Not big and bulky like essentially every shoe these days. Overall, I’m thrilled with them & wish there were more colors! (like earth tones!)
Love These Shoes!
These shoes are great! They seem to be kind of a hybrid sneaker/climbing shoe, which is perfect for me, as I’m not a hard-core rock climber. They are great for bouldering and rocky trails. They have good traction and hug the feet nicely. They’re comfortable and supple, enough to have a good connection with the rock. But they are not the very supple traditional climbing shoes. For my purposes this is great! One shoe that can be worn for both hiking, climbing and even just normal daily activities Especially convenient when traveling and you can only fit one pair of shoes. They are my new favorite sneakers.
Grippy on rocks and trails
I REALLY enjoy these shoes. I do weekly trail hikes and when I’m not hiking, I compete in dog sports which requires active shoes that can grip, are breathable, and can take a beating. These shoes are just that! I loved the fact that while hiking, especially on rocky terrain, I didn’t slip once and I could feel the rocks below me to encourage confident footing. While my husband was slipping and sliding in his running shoes, I was solid. They worked great while doing dog sports too since I didn’t feel any weeds or straw stab through the outside and the molded toe protection came in clutch a few times for toe drags! The only note that should be considered is that if you have extremely high arches, like I do, make sure you swap the included inserts for custom/high arch support. I recently got custom molded inserts and swapped them out and what a game changer! I felt much more comfortable to help make this shoe my new go to for scrambling and daily trails for all day wear. Otherwise they would be great for the time on trails only. But with my inserts, I go all day. They’re also a good looking shoe. I got a lot of compliments around town which is neat considering they’re made to be on the trails.
Amazing shoes
This is an amazing, versatile product. Crazy comfort, good technical performance, light weight, and great for evening in camp following a big day of backpacking. The fold down heel that is actually designed for that is brilliant. I’ve been out in in the wilderness with heel blisters and these have saved me. Just hang up the boots on the pack and wander out in the Sessions with the heel down to prevent more skin damage. Great stuff. Oh, and they are a great daily shoe to boot! No lacing required for quick entry/exit, and they look great for rehydrating at the local pub. I love these things so much that I’ve bought pairs for friends and family. Well done BD!
Comfy, lightweight shoe
These were nice shoes to wear around town for casual errands. I could also see wearing them for light bouldering since they have a thicker toe cap (though I could not test them for that due to an ongoing shoulder injury). Love the stretchy material. They are soft inside for wearing with bare feet. Pros: Comfy, lightweight, grippy soles, soft inside Cons: Very slightly narrow, no arch support
“OMG soooo comfortable”
I bought the Pink ones for a friend’s birthday and had them shipped directly to her. She texted me after receiving them “OMG soooo comfortable”. She absolutely LOVES these shoes so much. She said the fit great, comfortable, light, and exactly the kind of shoes she needed
2 years of loving these shoes!
I never write reviews. But, these shoes deserve it. I’m not a climber, but I use these shoes every day at work. I work at a ski resort and am running up and down stairs and from one end of the resort to the other all day. These shoes are so light weight, it’s like wearing slippers. And yet, my legs don’t ache or feel tired at the end of the day. I love the slip on heels for quick trips to the garage or garden. I’m a true size 8, and these shoes fit perfect. If you want a little extra room for your toes, then go up half a size. I also like that these shoes don’t have the extra heel sole like running shoes do. I find the heel catches on stairs when going down. I wouldn’t hike in them or run, but for everything else, I’m a FAN!
Good multi-use shoe
Black Diamond describes these shoes as "Performance and comfort from the crag to the street." I'm not a rock climber, but I did use them for a number of activities. First let me say these shoes are, as Black Diamond describes, easy-on, easy-off. The stretchy heel and pull tabs make getting them on very fast, even without untying them, and you can always squash down the heel and wear them as slides. They were soft and the uppers were very comfortable. However, I didn't find that they gave much support. I ended up adding an arch support insert to them, which fixed the problem. Also, the toe box is not wide. If you have a narrow to average foot, it should work but don't expect this to have the wide toe box of a running or hiking shoe. I've worn these shoes to work several times, including on rainy days. They fit in just fine with my informal office and I got a couple of comments on how cute they were. Even when the tile floors were wet from the rain, I navigated stairs and hallways without ever slipping. Same with outdoors - wet pavement and asphalt were no problem and they kept my feet dry, despite not being advertised as waterproof. In addition, I wore these to my fencing salle to both fence and coach. They worked well in this setting. I was able to easily demonstrate and go through calisthenics and resistance band workouts and an obstacle course, as well as fence epee and sabre. While I know most people don't fence, I do think they would be very good general gym and workout shoes.
