I love these shoes! I bought them the day before I hit some trails in Chattahoochee national park and they’ve worked beautifully. True to size, no break in period/no pain wearing them, and they’ve had amazing traction on rock, gravel, clay, and mud, including on a non-stop steep incline walking up a mountain. Walking through puddles and mild/medium mud, my feet haven’t gotten wet at all. The only time I’ve lost traction over the last 15 miles was on one particularly slimey boulder, but regained my balance quickly. I haven’t fallen once. These truly do fit like a glove, but I still have room to move my toes around. They have surprisingly great arch support and enough cushion that I can tell there are individual rocks under me, but i don’t feel them poking my feet. This shoe is perfect.

Merrell Ruined a Great Shoe

I have worn Merrell's minimal line for nearly a decade, back when they even made these in a Mary Jane. They fit me perfectly, with just enough padding and slight support for walking in the city or standing for a long time but with ground feel and flexibility.
For some unknown reason, Merrell decided to change the arch so that it fits terribly now, giving me knee pain almost immediately after putting them on, as they arch hits the mid foot now! The toe box seems to be more narrow but I did not measure to confirm.
When I returned these to REI, another woman was working with a sales associate with the exact same complaint and the sales associate said they have had many complaints about the changes in this shoe.
Merrell, PLEASE bring back the older Trailgloves!

Best shoe for travel, trail, everyday!

I have lived in Trail Gloves for 7 years now after winning a pair of Bare Access’ at an outdoor event. I literally buy at least two pair a year and have even repurchased two pair in the same colors. They are super lightweight and packable, making them great for travel, and they’re all you need on most trails if you are an experienced hiker (the vibram soles have tons of traction, lasts through many uses). I look forward to doing the 7’s after I wear out my unopened rebuys of 6’s. Seriously, all my other active shoes sit alone in the back of my closet now, these are all you need.

Hold on one cotton picking moment … these trail hiking shoes are my NEW FREAKING FAVORITES!! I’m thankful for everyone else opinion but I’m so excited I didn’t listen to any of them. The shoe names says it “Trail Glove”!! Because it definitely fits like a glove. My feet, my calves, t-band feel so darn good. I can probably hike every day in these trail glove’s and feel amazing. The arch support is what I love most about this shoe. I bought the 6 and I’m excited to try the 7 trail glove 7 in few months. Try them if you want your feet feel like it’s being hugged from all sides. The grip on souls is fantastic for all types of trails

This is my first pair of Trail Glove shoes and I love them! I wore them right out of the box today, been biking, walking the dog and no blisters. I ordered size 8.5 after reading previous reviews and they fit fine, plenty of room in the toe box. I normally wear a size 9 depending on the shoe, and 8.5 was room enough. I like the low profile style, streamlined features compared to these bulky fat shoes other manufacturers have. I'm not a runner but walk everyday. Highly recommend them!

Trail glove 5’s (I’ve had four pairs of these because I love them for hiking) they were my favorite shoe ever! I decided to try the Trail glove 6’s even though some of the comments were a little negative. The toe box is narrower than previous models, and the lacing makes it difficult to get your foot in. BUT if you size up by half a size and wear thick socks these are the BEST trail gloves yet. They have a little more to the sole, but after wearing them one two hikes they are worn in and insanely comfortable. They still have the barefoot feel to them which I love and need! Beyond happy with them!

Very nearly perfect! I love these shoes-they are stiffer than my other Merrill’s, but on trail runs it’s just right. I also like having the arch for when I’m walking. My only issue is the seam near the big toe joint - it’s very stiff and even after two weeks of heavy use can irritate my foot. I would love to see these in a Gore-Tex version and with a sock top, so that gravel and sand don’t get in.

SO comfortable right out of the box! Love the roominess of the toe area and the slight arch support (not too much)! Wore them on 4 of 5 cruise ports in New England & Canada—including on & through rocks if ALL sizes, sand & dirt/gravel paths with NO problem. Felt safe the whole time. Love them!

Bottoms coming apart in less than a month!

I was excited to get these. The brand and virbram sole were highly recommended by a friend because I was looking for a flat sole with wide toe base. It has been less than one month and the bottoms of both shoes are coming apart. They both catch and have almost lost my footing. See pictures.

Not your beloved Trail Glove Shoe

If I could give these shoes 0 stars I would. I have been wearing merrell trail gloves for the last several years and have loved them. I didn’t want to believe the bad reviews so ordered anyway, don’t make the same mistake. #1 - these are way narrower then my previous version - and not just a little bit it is a significant difference #2 - the lacing design at the top is rigid and makes it near impossible to put the shoes on with socks - have to basically remove the laces just to put them one. #3 the soles are also hard and the instep no longer seems to sit in the right place #4 there is a seam for the tongue the arches across the foot and connects at the bottom lace point - which combined with the hard plastic lace hole just puts pressure in the one spot. I can only imagine the what it would feel like after a long walk These have lost the feeling of a “barefoot” minimal shoe that I have come to love - I will just have to keep wearing my tread bear trail glove 4’s as these are getting returned

I am a FedEx delivery driver and these are the most comfortable show I’ve ever owned. They form to my feet, the are extremely light and the traction is amazing. These are amazing for any type of terrain. My new favorite go to for sure. These are dope!

I loved the trail glove 4’s- perfect fit, true to size, I bought several pairs. I know a 5 fit too. Bought the 6... terrible. It’s larger than the 4, and 5, even though they’re both size 6 (see photo) the shoe laces are so awkward and tight, and because it’s larger that perfect fit I had is gone. Why change it so much, Merrell?! A 6 should be a 6 and not grow larger with a new model. So now they bend weird around the toe and hurt. Definitely returning these, and sad I’ll have to find a new favorite shoe or pay out the butt trying to find the Trail Glove 4’s. (Which of course now have limited color choices compared to the 6’s.)
