Merrell  Trail Glove 8 Trail-Running Shoes - Women's

From the Grouse Grind to laps in Costco.... Snug true to size (7.5, slightly wide foot, 9 years of Merrell shoes) Great traction on most surfaces (muddy, smooth rock some slip). Amazing tactile feel and "foot response" despite this shoe having more developed construction compared to my previous vapor and trail. Also looks great with all my athleisure outfits.

Looks nice and is light weight. But the top where the laces tie digs into my ankles and I can’t figure out how to make it stop. I wore them outside today thinking they would break in but that one issue keeps me from saying these are the best shoe ever. Hoping someone reads this and can help me

I've bought Merrell Trail Gloves since the original and have been buying the earlier versions on the used market since because Merrell cannot seem to return to what worked. This model is definitely a return to the earlier versions in a few ways: better arch support due to a narrower mid-foot, decent flexibility in the sole, roomy toe box, but the burrito tongue is a big fail. It dug into my ankle every time I stepped and wouldn't budge. It came up so high on my ankle and there was no adjustment because the tongue is partially sewn in on one side. If the shoe had a traditional gusseted tongue it would have been perfect. Merrell please return to what worked and stop messing around with a shoe that was perfect years ago!

I have been wearing Trail Gloves for 15 years now. This is the worst version I have ever worn. If they don’t change the shoe back to the old design I will never buy these again. The issues I had with the shoes were as follows… I ordered a half size up from what I had previously worn based on the reviews. The fit was appropriate. The toe box has gotten significantly narrower, though I now have pinching on both my pinky toes from the new design. Why make the toe box smaller? Almost everyone that wants barefoot shoes wants a wide toe box and Merrell‘s is already on the narrow side to begin with for this style. The second major issue I had was with the new tongue design. The tongue and collar of the shoe are so stiff that it dug into my ankle and I wasn’t even able to walk let alone run. Unfortunately, this is not an exaggeration. I tried tying the shoe looser and it did not fix the issue. Plus, who wants their shoes loose when running? I am not writing this review to be negative, but just with the hope that someone will read it and come to their senses and give me my old style of shoes back… please I’m desperate.

I am so disappointed with the trail give 8. I love trail gloves and have worn each model since version 4. But I had to return this year’s Trail Glove 8. The shoe itself fit like I expected and felt good on my foot…except for the ankle. The ankle was horrible. The collar of the shoe was stiff and so rigid that it bit into my ankle and I wasn’t even able to tie the shoe tight. It did not feel like something that would loosen with wear. It felt like a rigid piece of metal or plastic was under the collar. I also was not happy with the burrito tongue. Why do that? It just made it very apparent if your foot needed more room than ‘average’ because the tongue wasn’t centered. I sure hope trail gloves 9 corrects for these missteps in version 8.

From the start, I have loved the color and the light weight construction. However, there isn't much cushion inside and the arch support seems minimal. But after wearing throughout the day around the house and all day while running errands, my feet and legs remain 'happy' in these shoes. I'll be enjoying these for a long time!

I love these so much that I bought them in black as well. They’re comfortable immediately and give me the minimalist feel while protecting my feet—I walk a lot in an urban environment and these are perfect. And cute 🥰 I wear a 39 euro, slightly narrow feet, narrow heel, and the 8.5 is a perfect fit.

Unfortunately I had to return this item. On the inner side of each shoe the top of the collar digs in right near the laces. Otherwise length, width, fits perfectly and no heel lift. For reference I am a 38 EU and purchased size 8.

Such a pretty shoe. Lightweight, supportive. I would give a 5 rating but for the fact that the top of the shoe is too high up my foot and rubs the side of both ankles.
