Solid helmet with game changing mounts
Good helmet. The light attachments are game changers for me. I commute in NYC so I’m all about visibility. The light-mounts offer the sleekest yet most functional way to add lights. MIPS is nice but standard nowadays.
Good helmet w/fit issues
I upgraded to his helmet from a Bontrager Starvos for better visibility when commuting. The magnetic light/camera mounts are excellent and I'm happy with the shape of the helmet. However, I can't recommend it because the chin straps never stay in place. The loop the chin straps pass through at the back of your head offers no way to hold them in place; it's simply a pass through. So once you get the straps perfectly adjusted, they will have slid to a new position the next time you put it on. This occurs during very simple activities, such as carrying your helmet to the table or hanging it from your bike/lock at your destination.
This Helmet saved my life. Period.
Got hit by a car today that ran a stop sign. Fell head on into the opposite lane. Luckily I had lots of layers on due to cold weather. No significant injuries.
Great value
Replaced old Giro Pneumo which is a nice helmet. This one is better. Feels like has better coverage and not feel like a mushroom cap. The pads, fit, comfort, weight (300g), and ventilation are all great and seems durable and I like the simple styling. You'd have to spend $100 more for better lighter helmet and only marginally. Yes the straps are fiddly to setup so take some time to dial in and then should be fine. Only gripe is front top sits lower and affects my field of vision some for mountain biking. Maybe I need to hold my head higher but I like that it has good coverage rather than perched on the top of my head.
Great fit, with good ventilation
Fit was great. My head size was right on the boarder between Small and Medium, went with the Medium due to the easy size adjustment capability, don't regret it at all. Slips on well and tightens up snuggly with no wiggle and no pinching or pressure points. Good ventilation, so my head stays cool on hot rides. Haven't used the light attachments yet, but I do like the ability to add a light when I need or want to.
It actually fits his noggin!
My husband has never had a bike helmet before because they didn't fit his head. But when he decided to start riding again, and with the purchase of a new bike (also from REI), we decided a helmet would be a good idea. It adjusted easily, fits well without squeezing his head, and he reports it is comfortable. Glad we made the decision to purchase this!
Good fit system but way too heavy
Very comfortable fit system but the helmet was just way too heavy for me.
Comfortable
Comfortable to wear after getting the straps adjusted. That took a little fiddling. The dial adjustment is super convenient for getting things nice and snug every time. I'm taking it on faith that it'll do its job if I ever need it to.
Fits well, protects the big head
Fits my big head perfectly. Adjustable so in cold weather I can wear a wool beanie. Plenty of holes so that wearing is cool in warm weather. Great safety colors.
Love the helmet!
I’ve worn it with complete comfort. I’ve attached a rear view mirror to it and have still had no problem with fit or comfort.
