I used this sleeping bag on a multi-day bicycle trip and it worked well overall. I love how easy it is to pack up because the stuff sack gives generous room even if you don't roll the bag super tight. Instead of worrying about rolling the bag perfectly, you can use the compression straps on the stuff sack which saved me a lot of time. I think the bag is soft and comfortable and I love the color. The only con is that it didn't keep me as warm as I hoped. On a 42 degree night, I was uncomfortably cold even while wearing a puffy jacket over my clothes inside the bag. However, I'm skinny and I'm always cold. I will keep this bag and bring warmer clothes next time!
I’ve only slept in this bag 3 nights so far but I’ve been comfortable in a wide range of weather. First night was in a toasty yurt when below freezing outside and the bag was fine. Second night was in a tent: I’m not sure how cold it got but everything outside the tent was frosted over at 10,400’ in May, so it was quite cold. But in the bag I felt great. The bag packs down extremely well, no need to roll or anything. The only thing that bothers me a little is the zipper occasionally snagging on material. That could be a better design but is easy enough to live with. Would recommend. I’m 5’10.5” tall and fit well in the regular version of this bag. Happy camping!
I'm a novice and I used this on an unexpectedly cold night. It dropped below 20 degrees and this was NOT enough to keep me warm. I used a merino wool liner, merino wool socks and full base layer, as well as a fleece top. My sleeping pad was a thermalite with a value of 4.2 which definitely saved me. Long story short, buy a bag for the right temperature. This alone will not keep you warm below 30 without the aid of many other layers. That being said, the sleeping bag itself is wonderful, comfortable, and warm during the late spring, summer, and early fall. Love it's construction and ease of use. Hope this helps.
I took this bag camping in the Catskills. I brought a second bag with me so I could test how cold this thing could keep me warm and I was good from 10PM (20 deg F) until a out 3AM (15-16 Deg F) when I pulled out my backup bag to double up. I was still warm but movement pulled in cold air which brought down my upper body temp (feet and legs were still toast!). I was wearing some long johns (top and bottom) with a t-shirt and no socks. It was a little tight for me (5'7" 190lbs) but I didn't mind. Had plenty of room to stuff my clothes in to warm them up before putting myself back together in the morning and I had 4-5 inches of length as a buffer. Fits well in the sleeping bag section of my Osprey 36L
I am 6' and 220lbs, got the long because they didn't have a regular in stock. The bag is extremely comfortable, but a bit snug at the elbows, probably fine if I dropped a few lbs. Temperatures were in the low 30s to mid 40s and I was not overly warm or too cool. This is my first sleeping bag with a 3D footbox. I'll never go back. It is amazing the difference in comfort it makes. Incidentally, I spent the night at a rest stop on the drive home and pulled out the bag to sleep in the back seat of my truck. Kept me nice an warm as the temp outside dropped into the mid 30s.
REI sold out of my original choice so I just happened to go with this one. Very happy I did. It condenses down nicely, is incredibly easy to pack, and it kept me warm all night (59F and rainy night). Haven't had a chance to take it out in cooler weather but so far very happy with it! I'm 6' 3" at 215lbs with average build and didn't feel constricted in any way while in it. It has very generous zippers, one almost fully opens on the left and about a quarter way on the right.
Bought a year ago for some winter camping in the smokies along with a liner. Got down into the teens one night with some decent snow on the ground and I was chilled even with a extra liner and long sleeves on.Definitely needed the liner or I would’ve froze. Love how well this packs down but it definitely isn’t the warmest bag I’ve used. Zipper tends to snag a lot on the material is my biggest complaint
I used this bag over the weekend and loved it. Plenty of room in the shoulders, very light and packs down excellent. Got down to 35 degrees and I was plenty warm with only sweats a tee and socks. I’d definitely buy the bag again at this price point
Bag is too narrow for my shoulders. Barely able to zip it up while sleeping, woke up freaking out because I couldn’t move my arms. Used this bag while camping a couple times while it was in the 30s and 40s. I run warm, but this guy doesn’t work well for me below about 42.
Bought this bag for a 4 day 100 mile hike through TN…It was light & kept me warm. Plus at 6’7” it has the length I need to be completely covered. Have since used this bag in all situations. Love it
