Excellent mountain biking shoe!
After spending many years as a flat pedal rider, I switched to mainly riding clipless about two years ago. These shoes pair very well with Shimano’s own trail pedals. The stiffness of the shoe seems ideal to me for pedaling, while not being too stiff to walk in. The tread is good for walking, and the shoe has some rock built in which makes hike-a-bike or pushing back up comfortable. Lastly, while the style of the shoe is, well, Enduro, they protect your feet from impact, don’t let water or debris in, and dry quickly. Which is really important in the PNW.
Bad fit, sending back
The shimano me7 were the right size, 44, but they press and rub under the ankle riding and especially walking. I have some Oboz boots that do that, but the boots are comfortable enough with thick socks to wear for long hikes. These I couldn't wait to take off as soon as I tried them on. Tried thicker socks, tried an extra insole to push my heel up. I really wanted these to fit; my last shoes were Shimano and lasted 15 years (three bikes). Disappointed...although on a different review site I did read of this problem with one other customer before I ordered. Was hoping it would not happen with my foot shape. Now the sale is over and all the other options are back to full price. : /
Pricey, but man what a great shoe
I bought these specifically because I read that they were easy to walk around in. I do 12 hour adventure races, where you have to hop off your bike and run for a bit. 1) They are very easy to walk in and have really good grip. 2) To my surprise they are also a great show on the bike. Yeah they aren't as stiff as some other shoes out there. But I don't feel like I'm losing any efficiency either.
Beautiful Shoe, But Snug
I love the soft rubber, seems like it would be great off the bike. However, I have a wide toe box, and this shoe doesn't feel like it would stretch. Gotta give it back :-(
Terrible quality!
I have bought 3 pairs. The pair lasted almost one season. I was refunded and bought another pair. They lasted half a season. Got another refund and again they started falling apart after 4 rides! The sole around the cleat and cleat-plate started coming unglued and lost the support! Terrible shoes and wouldn’t pay $50 for them!
