Was excited to have a luxury air pad for car camping and when it worked it was amazing. After about 2 uses it completely lost all its air one night. I sleep on a cot with the air pad so I know there is no way I accidentally punctured it on a rock or something sharp. After the trip, I found the hole and repaired with gorilla glue and tape. The pad held air in my living room but then lost all air when I took it camping again. I exchanged the pad for another one, giving it another shot. I used it 1 camping trip where it did not lose air. This last trip it lost air both nights so I returned it for a refund :(
Couldn't wait to get it at my door - opened right away and started the inflate process. The first time, it seemed to take forever, but I went against the instructions and blew air into it to get it "finished". It worked, and then I spread out on it and nearly fell asleep. It was that comfy! I can't wait to take it on my first camping trip next spring. So much nicer than a blow-up mattress that is either too firm or you roll back and forth all night. The deflate process was fairly easy, and it went back into the carry bag just fine. I don't hike/camp with a backpack anymore, but if I did, I could see carrying this to be a must-have for a great night's sleep.
Owned for 2.5 years, gentle use. Car camping for 3-5 days at a time probably three times a year. Was sleeping on it at home, on carpet, and it kept deflating. Took my sleeping bag off and found a huge tear.
This pad it great. Quick story...I used it out elk hunting in WY this past October (base camp was @ 8500 feet). I shot my elk the first day out there and when I came back to camp that day, I stashed my gun (unloaded) under my Mountain Summit Gear pad for safe keeping. I went to grab my gun and head out hunting with a friend and seemed to have misplaced it. Here, I slept on my bolt action rifle, with a large scope, all night. I didn't even realize it!!! A must buy for car camping/elk camp!!!
Really happy I bought this... I was looking at some more “luxurious” options for a lot more money, but went with this so I could use my 20% coupon on one garage item. Certainly could not beat it for the price I paid, but I am pleasantly surprised with this and would say full price was still worth it. Lots of padding, quite comfy to sleep on. A little effort required to roll up but not more than any other self inflating/foam mattress. Im a small female who camps on my own and I can roll it up using my knees to help press out the air and keep it rolled as I go. I also don’t bother putting it in the sack when packing. I just take care to put the rolled up mattress in my backseat when packing up the car rather than in the trunk where other gear may puncture it. Then I also don’t have to worry about rolling it small enough to fit in the cover, just need to get the elastic bands around it and I’m good to go. I store it laying flat with the nozzle open under my bed at home. It’s only been used a few times so far but I feel optimistic that I’ll continue to to be as happy with it as I am now.
Alright, so Im only 23 years old, make I just grew up privileged, but sleeping on small backpacking size sleeping mats normally sucks and isn’t very sustainable for me. So at least for car camping I bought this mat, 3.5” inches of self inflating and insulation. Seems legit, it is freakin huge and it is freaking heavy, so backpacking is an absolute no for this pad. But! Car camping, I sleep as good as I do at home so Im stoked! I recommend this for sure to anyone car camping that wants to be comfortable.
I finally decided to upgrade my 33 yr old Thermarest air mattress (still works! But wanted something with more bed height). Got a great deal on this one. I used it strictly indoors for about 4 months (the firmness was great for when my back would ache). And then one day all the air came out. This was only used on a plush carpet (with 1” foam underneath!). It seems that the valve design is defective as it punctures the material if it gets bent or pushed on. These punctures are not easily remedied with a mattress patch kit. When I went to the companies web site it seems that they don’t make air mattresses any more. Good thing for REI’s return policy. But it is super comfortable wether you want a firm mattress or a bouncier one, easy to get the setting just right. It self inflates well with its inner foam (so even when all the air came out still comfortable, although that may had something to do with the plush carpet and foam underneath!). Bulky when rolled up, but expected considering the size and not too bulky. It’s just that pesky air thing it had trouble with.
I’m a bigger girl who loves to sleep on her side, and found this very comfortable. It inflates quickly, deflating takes a little longer. Quite easy to use, no pump needed!
First time using the camping pad was great, worked just as expected. But the next time used the camping pad a hole deflated the pad overnight. It was at the seam of the air valve and not a spot to put a patch. I would have felt differently if was a rip/hole where a rock or something else slashed. But this hole was in the corner next to the air valve where lead me to believe an error in the quality of the product. I recommend checking out the REI brand if interested in a self-inflating camp pad.
I got this for a camping trip and it’s great. It’s very thick and feels great to sleep on. The mat will roll tight enough to put it in the bag easily. It feels sturdy and is long enough. I wasn’t backpacking but just tent camping at a camp site. Overall it just was nice to use. My only complaint would be that the bad doesn’t have a handle on it for easy carrying.
