I purchased a similar 2 person, Alps Mountaineering tent like this several years ago and it's always my 'go to' unit. I've never, ever had any problems with it. Mine came with a foot print and had it not, would have purchased one for the tent. Vestibules are great for storing extra items. When I go camping with my kayak group, this baby goes with me. I can have it set up within 5-7 minutes. Not bad for a 70+ year old woman. I don't leave home without her. Mine is blue & gray w/a brown footprint. Never sorry I purchased it. SK
Just broke this baby in and so happy! So easy to set up alone or with someone else, the snaps and everything are so simple. Spacious for two inside and I like how the rain tarp still allows visibility and privacy at both entrances
I am a novice camper and took this tent out on my first solo camping trip last weekend. I practiced in my living room before but really didn't even need to. This baby is a cinch to put together--I had it all set up within about 10 minutes, and if I can do it anyone can. It's the perfect size for one or two people, great air vents, plenty of room, looks great, packs down easily...what else could you want!
I bought one of these directly through Alps and honestly can't ever see myself buying another tent unless I either 1) need more space or 2) need an ultralight for true backpacking. I predominantly use this for BWCA trips where a few extra pounds don't really matter and this thing is fantastic. Sets up/tears down in ~5 minutes, has loads of nice features (useful vestibules, windows, pouches for items and even a hanging gear loft) and is incredibly well priced. It's also larger than a standard 2-person (by 6 inches in either direction, I believe) so it can actually fit two grown men and some gear without it turning into a Brokeback situation. It's surprisingly well-constructed and is well-designed for the price; I've used it through severe rains/thunderstorms and it has never failed me. I'm now coming back to buy a second one after a bear tried to run off into the woods with mine (he was jealous, I guess) and tore the bottom off when it snagged on a tree. In short, if weight isn't an issue and you're searching a reliable, sturdy 2-person with some extra space BUY THIS, IT ROCKS!
My 13year old used it for a week, and was pretty comfortable. It kept her and all her stuff dry!
Most alps tents (to my research and understanding) do not have extra parts available to order. I had poles snap and have been unable to order new ones. I will surely be able to rig something together, but will not be taking this anywhere except the backyard.
If you are used to the convenience and the magnetic coop poles that self retract and connect in less than a minute than stay away from this tent. Tent overall is OK but the poles are super clumpsy. 1 broke already.
