Temperature ratings are intended as a guideline to help you compare products, rather than a guarantee of warmth, since many different factors contribute to your comfort while you sleep. Backpacking bags are typically rated for temperature according to an independent testing protocol—currently International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 23537, though some older items followed European Norm (EN) 13537. Testing is based on a person wearing one base layer and a pair of socks, sleeping on an insulated surface with a minimum R-value of 5.38.

Each bag then gets 2 ratings: the Comfort rating is the lowest temperature at which the bag will keep the average "cold sleeper" comfortable, and the Lower Limit rating is the lowest temperature at which the bag will keep the average "warm sleeper" comfortable. Some brands determine their own temperature rating by aligning to the Comfort rating for women’s bags, to the Lower Limit rating for men’s bags, or somewhere in the middle for nongendered bags.

Great bag, priced well.

I noticed this bag has 0 reviews and wanted to give it props. The temp rating is spot on, that being said my AC is always set at 65, and I usually get very hot at night. Tested the bag in about 40s and was cooking, my face was all that was cold. I kept having to unzip to cool down which for me is a good thing, means the bag works well. I have been using it for about a year or so and have no complaints. The bag is comfy however lightly filled. It compresses down to about 5L, I use a 10L Sea to Summit Ultra-Sil compression dry sack which I am able to compress all the way down to its smallest form. Very happy with this bag.

Best Backpacking Bag

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had this bag for the last couple years and it has always been a gamechanger. When I first started backpacking, my sleeping bag would have to go on the outside because it was so large. But since I have gotten this bag, being able to carry my gear has been so much easier. It is so light and compact that it goes into my backpack with no problem. I am also tall enough to not enjoy the normal length bag and the long is perfect. Highly recommend this bag, I do tell people about it every time they ask me for a recommendation.

Great bag

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this sleeping bag for several months now and am very pleased with it's performance. I've taken it camping in the Canadian Rockies and on a few short backpacking trips. It kept me comfortably warm in temps ranging from 32-60 degrees - it wasn't too hot in the warmer temps. I really enjoy the zippered interior pocket for keeping your phone. Keeps the phone insulated so your battery doesn't drain.

Excellent bag!

Just used this bag for the first time on a trip to the Smoky Mountains in October. Was very comfortable down to about 45 degrees (love the drawstring head opening!), and not too hot for a night in the 60s. Love how light it is and how easily it packs down. Zippers move easily and aren't hard to find in the night. I like that it zips down on both sides.

Very comfortable and durable, lightweight too

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought a Pinnacle Long in 2010 and I use it almost every day. It is comfortable, durable, lightweight, and compacts to a very small volume. It's good for backpacking or even at home for sleeping on top of a mattress. I strongly recommend this product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] been using this bag for a few months now it is often with me on the coast with the temperatures can dip into the high 30s… The bag is perfectly accommodating for a wide range of temperatures and is big enough to roll around on my sleeping pad.

Perfect summer bag

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Taken this on two trips now, nothing below 50 degrees. Comfortable and lightweight. I have also fully unzipped one side and use it as a quilt. Packs small. I will be using this for my summer bike pack trip on the katy trail

Lightweight and stylish!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you want a sleeping bag that's light weight and has the cool look, the Marmot Almost Summer 40 degree is must. You can't go wrong with Marmot brand. I've had it for four years and it's still my choice of sleeping bag.
