I own yeti and hydroflask and I've carried them daily for over 2 years. I haven't used anything except this new GSI bottle since I got it a month ago. It's so much lighter and seems to keep my water colder for longer. I also love that I can stick it in a side pocket of a bag or in my cup holder and not have to worry about spilling anything. Oh and the rubber on the bottom is sooooooooo nice. No more loud clank when I set my drink down. Go get one.

Alas, I returned it after a few days.

I require a good bottle to carry coffee to sip throughout the morning while skiing and hiking. I lost my REI Co-op Skier 18.5oz Flip-Top Bottle glissading down the Castle/Conundrum saddle and was dismayed to find that REI had discontinued carrying it. But I bought this new GSI bottle with high hopes! New product, great looking, super lightweight. Didn't find any reviews, but it looked worth trying. So I tested it. Test 1: Excellent sealing mechanism. This bottle does not leak. I filled it, closed it, and shook it. Not a drop released. I set it on its side on a wooden cutting board in the kitchen for an hour. Not a drop oozed out. I declare this bottle leakproof! Test 2: Boooooo, I hate lukewarm coffee! At 5:00 AM, I warmed the interior of the bottle with hot water, filled it up with fresh coffee, and hit the road to work. Took my first pour when I got to my desk at 7. Still OK, but thought it would be hotter. Poured another cup at 7:30, and it was definitely cooling off. By 8:00 it was unacceptably lukewarm. So I returned it the next day. I need a good bottle for year-round outdoor use, and this one couldn't even make the grade during a warm summer morning commute.

Coffee Nose

I bought this during a business trip to Denver where I was going to be sitting in day-long meetings and knew I needed coffee. The bottle is as advertised, is very light and does an exceptional job of keeping the coffee hot. A couple knocks: Unless you are diligent the stopper of the lid hits your nose when drinking and leaves a spot of coffee...thus the "Coffee nose" title. Second, if you have a Keurig coffee maker this bottle will not fit underneath the dispenser even if you remove the bottom tray. Ours at work is rather tall but the slip, tall design of the bottle is too tall. Both relatively minor dings but the reason it does not get 5 stars

Great bottle if you don't drop it!

Loved the water bottle until It fell off a waist high countertop. The lid broke to the point where it is unusable. I had the bottle for a little under 2 months when this happened.

Love this bottle!

I use it for coffee and tea mostly, but it works well for whatever thirst quencher you might chose. Keeps coffee warm for 12 hours easily, hot for 5 or 6. I usually don't drink from the bottle, but it works well for this purpose. Rather, I use it to pour into a mug at work or outside. For this, the pouring spout is perfect! The lock works great, no leaks yet. thin body walls (ultra light) so don't drop it! It dents easily. Slips out of mesh pockets easily like the osprey water bottle pockets. Great for stickers that let everyone know how cool you are. Lid comes apart and gaskets are easy to remove which makes cleaning possible, thereby avoiding the dreaded "old cream stench" ;)

Good bottle, but cap could be improved

The bottle is lightweight for its size. As a comparison, this bottle weighs 310g and holds 750ml. My older Thermos Nissan backpack bottle weighs 323g, but only holds 500ml. The Thermos bottle has a slight edge on insulation, but if one starts with ice water in the GSI bottle, it will still be cold the next day. The biggest shortcoming is the flip cap. Pushing the release button is usually not enough to have the cap flip open, and the cap has to be nudged to open. This makes one-handed operation more difficult. Unfortunately, it seems to be inherent to the design, because the bottle I purchased worked best out of the available stock at my local REI store. It is somewhat disappointing because the 500ml version of the GSI Outdoors Ultralight Bottle has an amazing cap. If GSI could make the cap work as well as the 500ml version, this would be the perfect bottle.

Grand Canyon Hike

I filled this bottle with ice then topped it off with lemonade at the canteen at the bottom of the Grand Canyon the morning of a 120 degree day in August, 2019, hiked to Cottonwood Campground where I spent the night, then hiked up the North Rim the next day. At 4:00 pm the second day most of the ice had melted but the lemonade was still cold. I was impressed. I could not have asked for a better, lightweight container. The lid sealed great but for those who have to have one handed operation, just push the release twice, sometimes three times, and the lid will pop open. I will trade that for a perfect seal anytime.

Keeps it warm...

Having bought my wife the smaller version and been pretty pleased, I opted to buy the size up as I drink more coffee than I ought to. The thermos itself seems pretty well built in keeping with most other stainless steel thermoses these days. The seals have been remain intact after a year. Frequent washing with no funk buildup. Weight seems less irrelevant when you have 24 oz of liquid in it. The flip top lid on this size is what I am not as enthused about. The hinge feels less than quality and when you have a spring loaded lid that size, the mug become a but unwieldy. Big hand thermos with a floppy lid. The smaller version has a more compact feel otherwise I would keep shopping around in this size range.

Great for everyday use.

This is a well-insulated bottle with good capacity. I keep it in my car so that I always have cool water when I need it. The water stays cool even though the bottle is sitting in my hot car while I am at work. I sometimes leave it in my car for 3-4 days and the water still stays cool. I keep it in the locked position and have never had a problem with leaks. Easy to open and drink out of. I tried another brand that has a spout because I thought it would be easier to drink from, but the water was like luke-warm soup in less than 12 hours and I returned it. I bought one for myself a few months ago, and then bought this one for my husband and he loves it. Keeps him hydrated and awake on long drives. I have not taken it on hikes since my backpack has a bladder, so no comment on that.

keeps my coffee warm

This is a great product! I pour hot coffee in the morning and it's still warm by the end of my work day. I have not had any issues with leakage and the cap is definitely very secure. My only issue is that sometimes the latch does not pop open the lid, but I think this is due to an issue with the suction. I can manually open the cap and then it works fine! Great product, highly recommend.

Bottle Performs Well, Documentation poor

Easy to use, leak tight, well built. The included packaging and instruction pamphlet diagrams are for a different bottle with different parts and disassembly. It is not apparent how to take the lid and inside seal apart for cleaning.
