This jacket is waterproof and a great windbreak. The slim-fitting style provides ample room to add layers without becoming bulky. The back vent provides flexibility and room to attach a small bag or doggy treat satchel to one’s belt. The internal drawstring cord was very a nice touch to seal in warmth. The jacket is easy to wash and dries quickly. Also, it’s sleek and wicks away water without making that “swooshing” sound as one walks. The fabric around the collar was well considered and never irritated my skin. The sleeve length is perfect and the adjustable tabs on the wrists kept out the cold air. The zipper pulls on the pockets were easy to grab even with gloves on.
I loved this jacket!! The fit is superb and the functionality is great! I feel comfortable wearing this jacket as a nicer coat when headed to work and I wouldn’t hesitate to wear it if it was downpouring knowing it will keep me dry. The jacket is longer, hitting upper thigh and fully covering my bum, which helped keep me dry. I like that the hood rolls up and out of the way, making it a great jacket even when it’s not raining. I was skeptical of the big back flap at first, but actually like it very much; the jacket is easy to move around in and didn’t bunch at all. I found the fit to be perfect for a rain coat- my usual size allows enough room for layering underneath in case it is a little colder out. I also have a large bust and found the jacket to zip up nicely. Overall, a great jacket!
The Celeste wouldn't be my go to for hiking (a little long). But for errands, around town, and anything else, it is lightweight, keeps you dry, and fits like a dream. The cut/silhouette lays beautifully (I'm 5'11, 165 lbs and a Medium is perfect - can also easily fit another layer underneath for when it's chilly) and the Marmot fabric keeps you dry in all kinds of weather. The hood tucks into a zippered pocket if you don't need it, and the double zipper is good for venting.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really love this jacket - fabulous material that doesn't feel like a typical waterproof rain jacket. The workmanship is excellent. The color is like a rich slate gray, and it has a hood that can hide in the neck zipper. The collar can zip up so that I can protect my face in the wild Wyoming winds. The zippered pockets are a great size, including the one inside the jacket. I love the longer length which was a critical feature for me. The only drawback for me is the flap in the back of the jacket which looks great, but isn't practical in the strong winds. It would be great if there was a way to secure it when needed. No regrets though - great jacket!
I absolutely love this rain jacket! It is perfect for running errands, walking my dog, and doing light exercise like cycling around the city. This jacket is very functional--the material keeps you dry and cozy even during heavy rain, adjustable wrist holes keep water from getting into your sleeves, and the deep pockets hold a lot. I've worn the jacket in multiple rainstorms so far and it is a huge improvement over my previous rain strategy (using an umbrella and hoping it's not too windy). Unlike other rain jackets I've tried, this jacket is stylish! The long length is flattering without impeding movement, the hood tucks neatly into a pocket at the back of the neck when not in use, and the interior drawstring at the waist can be pulled tight to define your body or let loose if you're layering up with sweaters. I also really like the fabric--it is a matte black that seems easy to clean and wrinkle-free so far. I would highly recommend this jacket to anyone who wants a flattering and functional rain jacket to last for years to come.
I appreciate the longer length, and it kept me quite warm in high winds while still being breathable. The collar is a little thick when the hood is tucked away but it's not too noticeable. The sleeves are long enough to comfortably fit over gloves and keep most water off the hands, without being too long. Size is as expected.
Jacket is a nice blue; love the waist cinch for shaping. BUT, foldaway hood inside the cowl collar is quite large/tall...the hood makes this section very bulky. Collar w/hood folded was unattractive and floppy when not zipped up. In addition, the fabric is pretty stiff/plasticky. It's probably a great rainshell, but I was looking for a more multipurpose jacket for travel. I ultimately returned this one & bought the Royal Robbins Oakham trench, which is also waterproof/seam sealed but stretch & made of a much softer, drapey fabric. If you're looking for a raincoat and have a long neck, this might work for you.
This is my second Marmot jacket and I love them both. This is an exceptionally well-made jacket with an amazing attention to detail. The fabric is incredibly water proof and I can tell they took their time in designing it for a woman to wear. The tapered arms are flattering and aren't forcing me to roll them up. The shape of the jacket is comfortable and flattering too in that it doesn't leave me feeling like a shapeless blob.
I purchased this coat last month and am extremely happy with it. I spend a lot of time outside and have owned many waterproof coats in the past that don't live up to my expectations and don't have all the features I need to be comfortable out in the elements. This coat is long enough to cover everything and to sit on when needed. The split in the back allows you to sit down without splitting the zipper. The tuckaway hood gives the coat a clean sharp outline. It's heavy enough to provide some warmth but not so much that it causes excessive sweating in warmer temperatures. I cannot say enough good things about it--I was hesitant about spending this much money on a raincoat, but it is worth every penny.
This is a beautiful rain jacket. Super comfortable, and looks good too. I used for biking, and it is perfect for doing errands and looking fabulous as you do it. I wear it even when it is not raining.
