The lightweight and breathable Cotopaxi Cielo Rain Jacket lives up to its promise of keeping you dry in rainy conditions. Ideal for layering during summer outdoor activities like hiking or biking, this jacket features a 100% recycled polyester layer underneath its vibrant and unique patchwork designs. Not only does it express personal style, but it also provides visibility and easy identification in emergencies. With its bold colors, saturated patterns, and contrasting zipper, the Cielo Rain Jacket is both fun and functional, making it a top choice for those who prioritize performance, style, and sustainability.
The jacket definitely works, but I'm returning it. I've worn this jacket five times, and it has so far repelled water, but I've only used it in a down pour once, as the first use. So the repelling is bound to lessen with each wear. The problem is, as always, the fit. It's too long in the sleeves, and too big in the chest and waist area, and super tight in the hip area. I can't really layer under this jacket because there is no room in the hips, as a result it rides up. I would recommend this jacket ONLY if you have longer arms, a slim athletic build, or if you have a bigger chest with a smaller hips.
I bought this rain jacket to take to Costa Rica during the rainy season, and it held up to some serious downpours. I was very impressed! My hiking pants and backpack got soaked, but my head and upper body, and the phone in the pocket, stayed completely dry. Thrilled with this purchase. Also, really glad I was able to try these on in person before buying. I typically wear size small, but decided to actually buy a large. I think having it a little bigger gave me a lot more rain protection.
Cute color, great fit, but not waterproof. After a 30 min walking session with dog in light rain, my second layer was damp.
Worst rain jacket I’ve ever owned. I don’t know if this one missed the rain proofing boat but it doesn’t work at all. I called Cotopaxi after I first got it and they said I was probably sweating which ok, maybe? But I’m not a terribly sweaty person. Wearing it today in the rain and it’s literally sticking to my entire upper body, drenched. My $40 Joules rain jacket is better than this. Unfortunately I got this jacket a few years ago so no doubt I’m well outside of the returns.
Amazed at how quickly I received my order given that things usually come slow boat to Hawaii. Bought for an upcoming trip to Ireland. Fun color blocking, gathers on both sides just blow the hips to keep my rear from getting wet and especially the cover at the top of the zipper. No scratching up the chin there! Pockets are positioned at natural height for hands, not at an awkward above the belly button position. Sleeves are a bit long on me, yet I’m okay with that, not use to cold weather and it’ll help cover my hands or gloves if needed. Gave fours stars because I’ve only had a chance to run outside in a recent rain fall, so haven’t put it through a full day in the rain. Ordered a medium, happy with fit and room for layering. For reference I’m 5’ 6.5”, 120lbs, size 8-10 depending on brand.
This is my new fave jacket ans that’s coming from someone who’s been with Arteryx from the get go. The Cielo is affordable, lightweight, water proof and a fun bold color blocked pattern! It’s perfect for between seasons and i’m excited to test it further this fall! I’m also 6 ft 1, medium build with long arms and was thrilled that it fits my long arms & build without being too wide or bulky. In love! 😍
Wore this jacket on 20+ hikes in the United Kingdom. While it is advertised as a rain jacket, I would say it is more of a water resistant jacket. It does not keep you dry at all. Once it started raining I was soaked in 10 minutes or less. Also takes forever to dry unless you put it in a dryer. Overall, it is a nice coat unless it is raining.
It fits baggy enough to layer over a puffy jacket. It does its job of being 100% water proof. Update: took the jacket backpacking and had to knock it down a star. Granted, I was in a full day of rain and snow so take that into consideration. On the sleeves some parts bead water but other parts completely soak water in. My down jacket underneath got wet on both sleeves. I’m going to try tech wash and direct to see if I can waterproof it again.
The colors on this jacket are beautiful, and the fit is perfect. I'm a tall (5'9") woman with an inverted triangle (broad shoulders, then rectangular) body type, very long arms, and a short torso. The arm length is great on me, the waist isn't comically long, and the jacket is plenty roomy to accommodate layers underneath. This is my second Cotapaxi jacket and the cut of their women's jackets fits me so much better than any other brand on the market that I just ordered a third. Because the fit is different than many other women's outdoor brands, I wouldn't recommend to everyone, but if you have an athletic build and/or prefer a less "feminine" cut, I can't recommend their gear highly enough!
