I really, really wanted to love this raincoat, but it was not waterproof. I tried one and returned it after the inside seam areas all over on the coat seeped through when only out in a rain for about 3 minutes. I tried the second jacket. It was wet on the cuffs, but the rest of it seemed to be fine. I hung it up and had to put it into the dryer before I could wear it again as it was soaked through after hanging on a hook for awhile. It’s a lovely jacket with a nice fit and stretch to it, but it fails as a rain coat. I returned it.
I am excited about this jacket though still cringing a bit at the price (more than I wanted to spend). It is extremely lightweight, fits well (I exchanged medium for large to accommodate layers), and looks good enough for city wear (I like that the lining is gray rather than white; looks slightly less utilitarian than other options). I am planning travel in Ireland in the spring and needed both lightweight and truly waterproof. Though I have not tried it in the rain, reviews seem to indicate it will perform well in wet conditions and I am choosing to believe them.
I am 5'3" and weigh 115 lbs. I bought the small, and it is perfect. I love that the sleeves have velcro wraps to tighten around the wrists since my arms are short. It also keeps the rain out. The hood covers far enough over my face, so I don't need an umbrella. I am in love with this jacket and get many compliments. It is definitely water-repellent in light rain for wearing in the city. I haven't worn it hiking, so I don't know how "waterproof" it would be if I were out for long periods of time. I'm fairly picky about my clothes, and this jacket is a yes!
This raincoat has kept me dry while going to the gym and will be a great coat while traveling. It is lightweight, comfortable, and great looking with deep convenient pockets. I’m so glad I found it after much searching. And, the hood is great too.
Light, stylish, packable and nice hood visor. My only issues are that the sleeves are way too long, there are no pit zips, and the pockets are too low. Beware, it runs small. Otherwise very well made.
This raincoat is very comfortable and does a good job keeping me dry in rainy weather. It's probably the most breathable raincoat I've ever worn and the fabric is very soft. I also really like the length and that fact that it has two zippers so I can give myself a little extra room at the bottom when walking. I do miss the old toggles Kuhl used to use on its outwear that snugged the hood down: this has a couple of little channels you can snap the pull cords into to keep the hood snugged, but I find them harder to use than the toggles, particularly when I'm on the move. Still, this is a great coat that packs small.
This raincoat is a perfect fit and material. Light, easily packable, great length, flattering, well made - I love it. My first day out with it I received so many compliments. My sister is now going to buy the same one. I am 5'8" and 130 lbs and the medium fit just right.
Pros: Very lightweight and long enough to cover my backside to keep it dry. Well made, as are all the Kuhl products I have purchased in the past. Cons: HOT. If it breathes you cannot prove it by me. A walk on a humid 78 degree, but no longer raining, day has left me completely wet with sweat and the inside of the jacket as well. To be fair that is pretty much how every waterproof jacket seems to perform. Is it waterproof, I am thinking yes, though I have yet to wear it in a heavy rain but I am not sure I would be able to tell the sweat from the leaking.
The first thing I did was put it to the test. I ran water over it from the kitchen sink. In my case, it certainly was impervious. I didn't even have to brush off any beads of water bec the water just slid right off. That said, it may be a different story depending on how much time I spend under the rain. Typically, I take shelter asap, or pop up my travel umbrella. I like that it's long-ish so I can sit on damp surfaces if I had to. I love the pockets and the straps to tighten the sleeves at the wrists. Nice green, and I love the feminine shape to it.
I bought this for a two weeks trip to Scotland/Ireland. It was perfect! The weather was in the 50/60’s the whole time, and I layered this with a lightweight long sleeve top, and a lightweight puffy vest. I never feel like I pack appropriately, but this couldn’t have been more perfect. There’s nothing I would change about this jacket.
