Great bag--would definitely recommend.
I bought this a few weeks ago and used it on a trip last weekend. The bag stores and carries a lot. I like the large open space because it allowed me to re-arrange the contents in a few different ways to get the best fit. I also carried my 15" work laptop in the sleeve. The tie down compression straps really made the overall bag smaller and there was no problem taking it on my domestic flight. Even though the bag was fairly heavy, I was able to manage it without problem. The backpack straps are well padded and stow nicely when not in use. I wasn't sure about the red color (I'm more of a blue, grey, and black kind of guy), but honestly, I'm very happy with it. When I'm not using it, the compression straps make the backpack into a low profile item that is easy to store in my closet.
Amazing travel bag
I borrowed a much older version of this bag to go on a ski trip a couple of years ago and absolutely loved it. I have been keeping my eyes out to find it on sale and the labor day sale I got it shipped for 78$!! It's carry on size at the airport but its far larger than any other backpack I have. In fact I can fit my other Osprey backpack inside of it for day trips depending on what I'm doing. I can fit my ski boots, helmet, gloves, and other misc. items. For camping or regular travel you can fit everything for a weekend trip. Plenty of smaller pockets to stay organized and it's great that there's synch straps to keep your load stable and compressed. You will not be disappointed with this bag although I wouldn't try an stuff a suit into it but that's just me :)
Perfect for Any Trip!!
I’ve had this bag for about a year now and am absolutely in love with it!! I took it while backpacking Europe for 3 weeks in the winter over New Years last year and fit everything I needed into it!! I’m presently writing this review from an airport on my way to Costa Rica and the bag fit everything I needed for 10 days with room to spare for souvenirs! Although it can get heavy having all your stuff on your back, it’s really easy to distribute the weight with the straps and buckles! All the pockets make organizing easy and everything is accessible pretty easily.
This was great for a 3-month trip around Europe
This backpack served me well on a 3-month trip around Europe. The compression straps, which I initially thought I would not like, really helped squeeze the bag into overhead compartments. I even brought this as a carry-on for my flight on my Iberia international flight with no difficulty, which was the initial goal for my purchase. I think my only complaint would be that many of the pockets/compartments are in the smaller zippered section at the front of the bag, which I used a lot less. I would've preferred more pockets inside the bag and also a water bottle holder or other side pocket. Also, if the bag were a bit longer to take away some of the width. Still, it was the best bag I found for the price and size restraints. I am happy with my purchase.
Makes traveling simple
Opens all the way up (suitcase style) for easy loading. I take my first trip tomorrow. It’s already packed and ready to go. I bought compression packing cubes. Which helped out tremendously.
So many features.
This bag is great - it holds even more than it looks like it can, all the straps hide away for airline travel and it is comfortable even when filled to capacity.
Perfect for 5 night trip
Glad I opted for this size instead of the larger one. There was ample room for all my stuff for a quick trip to Cinque Terre (3 nights) via Milan.
Excellent Carry On size World Traveller
Recent purchase used 3 weeks in Central America and Mexico. Very comfortable as a backpack, fits easily with room to spare in the overhead on major airline larger jets. I did not want to use my wheeled carry on as I knew I would be walking from bus to accommodations on cobbled/dirt streets. I also wanted the option of a backpack for overnights to lodges that need to be hiked into. I also purchased the Osprey Daylight+ which attaches to the back of the Porter. The daypack attachment is not easy and did not really fit when both pieces were full, but the daypack was easy enough to hand carry. The outside net bottle carrier is worthless as my Polar water bottle kept falling out...the pouch needs to be deeper. It has enough room for the experienced world traveler that can live with what you can fit in a carry on to warmer countries. All in all I will this will be my go to pack for my future world travels.
