Osprey  Fairview 40 Travel Pack - Women's

I like this bag a lot. It's the perfect size for urban use. Everything about it is very very good. I use it every day (and I have plenty of Osprey packs, yet I still pick this bag for urban environment!) Big disclaimer: I don't use this bag for it's intended purpose. I use it outdoors and I load it with a lot of supplies. Why, when I have 40 and 50 litre anti Gravity, light, breathable backpacks? Because the simplicity, accessibility and comfort this bag brings outweighs the raw utility of my other packs. that being said, I want to share some constructive criticism. There are a few inefficient design choices regardless of use. The main one is the location of the laptop sleeve. It's on the outside which brings the center of gravity away from your back. When the bag tips over it falls on the laptop. Ouch. I keep the laptop right against the back instead, secured with the compression straps. Second is the water bottle pouches. Again, as far away from your back as possible. Loaded in the intended manner, your back hurts. I don't see why they couldn't be on the side. If you are using this as a carry-on or occasional pack, it doesn't matter much, besides, that's what it's advertised as. It's not a multi day pack!

Therefore, I spent many months researching a bag that would maximize space without causing any back issues on my short frame. This one maximized my space while still having a few helpful pockets, and did not cause too much stress on my back even when exhausted from layovers as the weight was dispersed so well. My only picky critique is the laptop compartment as it took up unnecessary space and is not removable, but otherwise this bag is perfect for short women needing a large carry on! I am 5’0” and found other reviews from short women helpful too.

I have traveled the whole world with this bag. I use it as my carry on bag and it's been amazing. I don't hike with it so I can't speak to that but for traveling with it like an additional or solo bag, it's amazing. It really distributed the weight evenly. I wish the front had a pocket in the front center but the top front pocket is pretty decently sized and I fit chargers and wallets in it. I have thrown it around and it takes a beating well. Still looks great. Wish the zipped back panel had a way to secure it when the straps are out so it doesn't flop out when I'm wearing it but if you tightly wrap and pack it in itself, it really stays put. Highly recommend.

Purchased bag July 2022 as a nice travel backpack for vacation. It has since replaced almost every suitcase, hiking bag, or duffel bag I used to own. Need a carry on that can fit 2 weeks worth of clothes, this is you bag. Multi-day hikes, including the Grand Canyon rim to rim, this bag has got you. Does Osprey make better suited bags for those scenarios, probably, but im stubborn, frugal, and this bag is more than capable and comfortable to do anything you want to with it. No signs of significant wear. Lord of the rings would have been 3 chapters long if Frodo had this backpack, it can carry any load. Buy this backpack

I bought this to use primarily as a personal item as part of my carry on options (so, intended to go under the seat). Very happy with the roominess and comfort of using it, I especially like the 'hidden' laptop sleeve and the fact that the backpack straps really can be stored away so it looks like a duffel. As a carry on, if you're going to put this in the overhead bin, then I see no problem. While it did fit under my seat, it was too long and stuck out. I was next to the window and they (United) didn't say anything but if I had been in an isle seat, I'm sure they would have complained about it sticking out too far.

As a person who typically hikes and avoids flying at all costs, I can say this pack is great for destination travel. The shoulder straps and hipbelt are super comfortable . I am used to hiking packs with the air speed design, so to have a pack right up against me was surprisingly comfortable too. I am however known for being a sweaty betty, so hot climates might be tricky if you are too. I also recommend packing neatly or in a tight manner to prevent any slipping or wrinkling of clothes. This is just like a suitcase when it comes to the main compartment so keep that in mind when packing for your journey.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I can't believe how much fits into this bag and how comfortable it feels to carry it. I'm about to turn 60 and got this bag recommended to me by my daughter for a trip to Europe. Traveling by bus and train, I thought it would be easier to move around with a backpack vs a rolling carry-on. At first, I was skeptical it would be able to fit all of my belongings, but so far it seems to be fitting it all with some room to spare. I will update this review after the trip. I've been able to pack 3 pants, 7 shirts, 1 wrap, 2 scarves, 1 first-aid, toiletry bag, 2 pair of shoes, tablet & charging cords, umbrella, soapbox and small notebook. I'm using compression cubes for the clothes. I'm looking forward to traveling with my Fairview backpack.

Have used this with the light packing cube set through India and Europe the last few months and it's holding up well. I'm personally fine it doesn't have pockets because I bought the small backpack that attaches to it in multiple ways and that works for me personally. Definitely get the rain cover if you plan to travel where it rains. It repels water but can get a little damp inside if it's pouring. I'm honestly shocked at how much it can fit. I wish there were clearer instructions on adjusting the harness system though.

This was a new bag for a recent trip and I was happy with how well it fit. Also, good access to what's inside. It is a bit heavy and I am not sure the extra handles, making it more like a luggage, are worth it. My biggest disappointment was having to take my bag off to access my water bottle. The outside pocket is not accessible. Irritating over the long haul. I also would prefer a rain cover that is integrated into the backpack.

The adjustable straps make it a perfect companion for your back if you’re like me and can never find a perfect fit in packs. The straps can be hidden with a zippable cover that is stowed away in a pocket at the bottom of the pack as well. My favorite part of this bag is that the hip belt is durable and comfortable so it makes carrying it easy.
