Got it in the mail a few weeks ago and so far only been able to take it on one overnighter into the backcountry. I was amazed at how light and compact this bag is after carrying it in and out of canyons along the Colorado. Adequate room for me (though I'm a lanky 5'10"), but I could see someone over 6' wanting the longer version. Kept me warm and comfortable through the night. Not sure how cold it got, maybe 40, but the winds were brutal, kept pulling tent stakes out of the ground. Can't wait to take this on a few bikepacking trips and more backcountry hikes. Can't speak to the durability of the shell just yet, but my dog thought it was his so we'll find out soon enough.
Used this for the first time on a night where the temperature dropped down to about 35 degrees (F). I was a little chilly, but then i zipped it up all the way and was comfortable the rest of the night. Very light, compact, comfortable. Exactly as advertised.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this sleeping bag for a 7 day mountain bike packing trip from Durango, CO to Moab, UT and it was perfect! Lightweight and compact to store which is so important bike packing but warm enough at freezing temperatures. A great product!
I purchased this sleeping bag because it was very lightweight and packed up extra small. It delivered big time! Here are some things you might consider before purchasing this bag though. First off, the bag is pretty narrow, especially around the foot area. Don't expect that you'll be able to put on a pair of socks while zipped up in the bag. The zipper is small and can get stuck from time to time on the outer material. Overall, I love this bag and understand that there are sacrifices to be made with such a lightweight bag. I'm 6'4" and the Long fit great.
I will qualify this right away - I haven't actually used the bag yet! What I have done is checked it's construction, weight, volume, and most importantly it's fit. At 6'9" I can't use just any bag. I discovered online that measurements on this are wildly variant as well, and after checking with Marmot direct, I discovered that REI is short on their "long" size by about 8". Now that I have it I can confirm it. The bag fits well, and at least indoor on the floor was quite warm. My primary concerns that aren't really concerns so much is on the quality of the zipper, and also on the tapered top which zips over the shoulders slightly, making it a bit difficult to zip up all the way from inside. Other than that, this bag appears to be able to do exactly what I want, and I will find out soon! BIG NOTE: LONG SIZE BAG DOES RUN LONGER THAN LISTED - ABOUT 86" INTERNAL~!
My only complaint was how easily the zipper gets stuck. I was trapped with my arms inside and couldn't reach my headlamp to see what was going on. But I was warm and the bag dried quickly after I sweated all over it inside my bivy sack. I would've been more comfortable in a tent. Then it would've been perfect. Even though my bag felt damp I stayed warm and it dried completely in a few minutes in the sun.
I bought this sleeping bag for a trip to the North Cascades and it was absolutely perfect. Kept me comfortably warm when it got into the 40's at night and was light weight for back packing. The bag does stuff down pretty small, but would've been nice if it had been even a little smaller. Either way, definitely recommend and look forward to using on upcoming trips.
I’ve only had the bag about a month now. I can see the frustration with the zipper but as long as you keep the line tight while sipping up I’ve had no problems, foot box is a little tight for me but I’m also 6’5” 225 so most bags are. Bag is super light and compact while stuffed. Great product over all and looking forward to bringing it on the JMT in July.
Small, light, comfortable, and the advertised temperature performance rating mostly matches my sleep experience. The only thing I would wish for is bit quieter/less plasticky sounding material, but that may not be a possibility when making a bag that weighs so little. All in all, it is the sleeping bag I use more than any other and I am glad I purchased it.
Bought it for the weight. Continuous baffles let you shift the down around. Agree with other reviewer - fabric easily snags, and given how thin it is, you have to be careful with it. Only other issue is the anatomic footbox can feel constricting, especially if you like to spread out a bit, but for the weight, this bag is excellent
