So yeah.. we didn't have a ton of money to purchase a super high end bag. NO PROBLEM. This one is great. Got this one for my husband and the women's version for me (after getting the Trestles 30 for my daughter a while back). We love these bags. Got the long.. and it is plenty long enough for the 6'1" man who uses it. Plenty warm. Have not been in the snow or deep freeze with it, but been in chilly late autumn and early spring with no issues at all. It is comfortable, the zippers all work great.... the way the head fits around your head is wonderful. It is wide enough.. Can't think of a single complaint. Great bag. Get it - especially for the $$$
I’ve used this about 10 nights in South Park, Colorado, in October and it has performed as stated. While every other piece of my fishing gear has been turned into a block of solid ice (coldest I have hit probably only 20 degrees), while I am in this sleeping bag, everything has been all good even if 8 inches of snow have fallen. I don’t know how this bag would handle the serious temperatures of deep winter or high alpine terrain, but I will no longer be afraid of hitting remote waters when it’s freezing cold. $109 is dirt cheap for this kind of bag.
Went winter camping in the Wasatch Mtns in Utah County and this thing was fantastic. The weather was about 20 degrees, but felt colder with my tent directly on the snow. Had to layer 2 layers, but was cozy all night long. The synthetic material is great. I don't backpack much so the weight and size of the stuff bag was not an issue when buying the bag. The Elite Trestles has a much smaller stuff size if you are using the bag for backpacking.
My wife and I were contemplating buying one of those huge bulky 2 person bags so we could snuggle while we camp, that is until we found that this model zips perfectly with the same women's version. now we have the best of both worlds, when we camp together we can zip and share space, when camping alone or with others it functions like a normal bag. we've used these bags in 3 seasons and have no complaints, never been cold, never gotten wet.
I love this bag! This is my first non-cheap sleeping bag. I used to use whatever bag I could find, probably 10lb. bags... so this was my first forray into a better sleeping bag. I knew I wasn't ready for a synthetic bag... and I do a lot of canoe camping and sometimes am sloppy about gear getting wet... so I wanted to stay with synthetic. You cannot beat the value of this bag. It's super warm and super comfortable. It's huge... I can sleep on my side without having to "rotate" the bag with me. And, it packs up a lot smaller than I expected. No... I haven't put it in a "sleeping bag compartment" of my backpack... it won't fit. But that's not why I got it. Highly recommended!
I bought this about a year ago and with the intent of mostly using it car camping with hopefully adding in some one or two day backpacking trips. I used it last year in mostly warm weather so I could not rate its colder weather performance before but the features (zippers, ease of entry and exit, compressibility) impressed me. About a month ago I went camping with the family and couple of the nights got into the low 20's overnight. The family was piling on blankets and I was cozy in just shorts and t-shirt and one morning had to open the zippers to vent because I was too hot. So while I am no expert I would guess the 15 degree temp rating is pretty accurate. Things I love: I have ample room to sleep and move while I do, though I am not a big man 5'7" about 160 lbs, and the compression sack is included One thing I really don't love: The stuff pocket on the inside, which I love in theory to keep thinks close and warm, doesn't really work for me. It may be the way I sleep but I store anything in there with any weight it keeps hitting me all night while I move. It might be better on the other =side of the bag away from the zippered opening
Bought this a month before my move out west. Used it on the last cold night of the year at home to try it out. It is warm!. Feet have plenty of space. I'm 5'7 and have plenty of room to move around. Am sure this will do well on cool desert nights.
My new Trestles 15 appears to be made from high-quality materials and shows signs of careful workmanship. The zippers, zipper pulls and zipper backings look like they will last. I like the placement of the stash pocket on the outside the bag. I am 5'11", 215 lbs and a side-sleeper restless sleeper. I opted for the extra-wide long size and find it spacious - perhaps too long for me. I appreciate the shorter auxiliary zipper on the 'non-zipper' side for comfort and temperature regulation. I look forward to cooler weather to really try it out. Probably too large and perhaps a little heavy for backpacking. A great value. Stoked. Yep. Stoked.
Love this sleeping bag. In warm weather, you will get pretty toasty. Definitely just laid on top of it. In colder weather, this bag holds up very nicely. If you have a good sleeping pad with a good R value, you will stay amazingly warm. Zipping in and out is very easy. The mummy style hood is great for holding rolled-up clothes for use as a pillow. The only thing I would have liked to see from the bag is some sort of strap system to attach it to a sleeping bad. Due to the synthetic material, it's pretty easy to sleep off your sleeping pad if you move around at night. Other then that, this bag is lightweight, compresses well, and is very roomy. I'm 5'9" and had plenty of foot space in the regular size. Had a very easy time cleaning this after a trip where it got pretty smokey after sleeping in it with campfire clothes every night. Highly recommend!
I am a very warm sleeper and have owned many bags over the years. With this in mind, I consider the manufacturers comfort range ratings for this bag off the mark. I think they overstate the bag's heat retention ability. Just used this bag in fall conditions, in a tent, and found the bag uncomfortably cool at around 31-32 F. Given the bag's rating at ~ 15 F, this should have not happened. Otherwise I feel this bag is good value if purchaser knows this. Good price point. Apparently good build quality from a recognized brand of good outdoor gear. I purchased the tall-wide size and found the bag sized appropriately sized
