Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most durable, comfortable socks I have owned! A couple of years ago, I began purchasing Smartwool socks for three reasons: I wanted wool socks to keep my feet warm, I wanted durable lightweight socks I could wear with nice work clothing, and I wanted socks that lasted more than a month without getting holes in the toes. Smartwool socks in general fulfill all of those. The PhD Outdoor Light Crew Socks are part of the Indestructawool line, and they are fantastic! They are lightly cushioned, provide some arch support, feel great on my feet whether I have my shoes on or whether I am lounging in my house, and feel like—as the name suggests—they will be indestructible. While I can't wear them in my "dress-up" work shoes, I wear these socks whenever else I can. They are comfortable, feel substantial, and keep my feet warm and dry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best socks I've ever had I bought 2 pairs for a 500+ mile hike thru VT,NH,ME on the AP trail. They were great. After 6 weeks on the trail they still look almost new. Yes, I did get blisters, I blame the boot and myself for them, not the socks. 9 days was the longest time between washing, no foot ordor!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Elastic may be too tight. Did not realize that the elastic in the sock would be so firm as to leave impressions in my ankles/lower calfs after a few hours of wear. Rolling down simply reduces the circulation to my foot and causes a little numbness. Good looking socks but not the most comfortable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Socks I was looming for my old favorites with the orange and red detaing around the heel and toe. Seems they've switched up the colors, but the socks are still great, snug, and warm for biking through Chicago winners. Lol

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfy sock After suffering from itchy and too hot of a sock, I stopped by REI and picked up a pair of Smartwool PhD outdoor crew socks. I put them on in the parking lit and instantly fell comfort. They are cushiony and not too heavy; perfect even in hot temps. I've now have hiked long distances in a waterproof hiking shoe and the socks have not made my feet sweat. If you're looking for a comfy light weight sock, check this item out, you'll be happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just perfect I usually love all the products Smartwool makes, and this is no different. These may seem heavy (thick) on the touch, but I promise they're not. I was wearing them right at those 100º+ days in Portland this summer and they are not warm. The fabric is just amazing and they feel amazing on your feet. I could forget they're even there. Plus, they look good. Mine is the black one with red details, the most good looking socks I have.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These are the best socks I have had several pairs for over a year now. If I can help it, SmartWool PhD socks will be the only socks I ever wear again. They are the most amazing, comfortable sock I've ever put on my foot. I cannot recommend them enough. It was magic from the first time I slipped m foot into them.
