Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wonderful reprieve for frozen fingers! I suffer from Reynaud's syndrome, so my fingers are almost always cold. Still, I love to spend time outdoors in the winter. My husband bought two of these as a stocking stuffer for me this year and they are FABULOUS! Although they are too large to use in my gloves when I am nordic skiing, I keep them in my jacket pockets to warm up my fingers quickly during ski breaks. These would also be useful while attending outdoor sporting events as a spectator. The warmer comes with a small plastic reservoir with a spout that is used to fill the warmer with the lighter fluid. You have the option to fill for a 6 hour use or 12 hour use. The only drawback I found was there is a slight lighter fluid smell associated with use. Not overpowering, but it was noticeable enough to make me wonder if the warmer was leaking (it wasn't). I have also tossed these in my boots to prewarm them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Long-lasting I love this hand warmer! It's easy to fill and keeps its heat almost all day. I fill it in the morning when I get to work and it stays warm all day. It's great to warm up my hands after shoveling snow. I plan on also using it to help heat my sleeping bag during some winter camping. I love this product so much this is what everyone in my family is getting for Christmas.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product As a paramedic, I use it all the time. It stays warm beyond the 12hrs. I think the one review likely didn't put enough fluid in the warmer for it to cool off after only 3 hours. I've filled it at the start of my 12hr shift and found it to be warm well after I got home, sometimes 14hrs later. Definitely recommend. It does have an odor, so if you're sensitive, you may want the rechargeable option, although I've never used that one. I can not speak for how well it works.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works, but be careful I used to used to use one inside my mitts but eventually developed a rash, possibly in reaction to the fumes. This might not happen to everyone and it did keep my fingers warm. Being catalytic heaters there is potential for carbon monoxide poisoning, so don't use in closed spaces - indoors, cars, closed tent, etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from hot Old fashion and still good. The measuring cup that comes with it is the best! enough, not too much. Very important.

I'm looking for something to heat a small, lean-to greenhouse (about 4' x 2' x 3'). If I use something with an electric cord, the door's opened a space and there's a draft. Would this work?

Once this heats can it be stopped at any time to conserve fuel?

Asked by: Middle aged fat dude
No, once the warmer has been lit there is no safe way to turn off this hand warmer. It is recommended to put it on a fireproof surface until it has used all its fuel if you no longer need it.

Am I able to tip this on its side after it is lit? Like inside a muff around my waist. Or will it spill?

This hand warmer can be placed on it's side only after ignition and in the protective pouch that is included.
