I'm lucky I grabbed these
Put 2 of these packs in my first aid kit just in case, and on my first time out the temps at night went way lower than I had planned for. I stuck a pair of these in my socks and kept the other two up near my torso, and they helped me to at least lay there and contemplate my planning failures more comfortably. In the morning I broke up the solid chunks that had formed and they gave me a little more warmth while I made coffee and packed up camp. Definitely going to be packing these in all of my first-aid kits. Sorry to see so many comments having quality control issues though.
Pretty Good!
These did not seem as warm to me as the other brands that I've used so they lost one star. However, they did work as promised...if you repack them and seal them in their bag, they will warm back up. I used them first on a Saturday morning and reopened the package on Tuesday evening to test and they did warm back up again.
Long-lasting warmth
Tried these hand warmers for the first time on a winter backpacking trip with my 10 year old son. Outside temps were about 30 F. Overall, we were very happy with the product - especially the longevity once they are activated. As the sun went down in camp, we opened our pouches and activated the hand warmers. I had read other reviews stating that the material inside needs to be massaged a bit to really get going, so we made sure to rub each of the packets between our fingers for 10-15 seconds. Then, after a short wait, they heated up as expected to a toasty - but not hot - temperature. All through the cold night, I kept my warmers in the pockets of my fleece sleeping pants (not in contact with my skin). Kept my hips warm. I woke up in the night a couple of times and warmed my hands back up. The real surprise was the fact that they were STILL warm at 6am when morning came. They did fade out shortly after that point, but they had been warming for a good 10 hours.
High Failure Rate
In may I reported to Ignik that some hand warmers I purchased in Dec did not work. They were hard as if already used. The svc rep was nice enough to send replacements. I'm finding the same problems with some of these. I hike in freezing temps during the Winter and can't trust unreliable equipment, esp. for warmth.
Love hand warmers
I use these hand warmers on sailing trips in cold weather. They warm my hands and take away the clammy feeling. They stay hot for hours. They take up no space, and are a great value.
Warm in the Snow
These worked great in Yosemite over the two days we hiked in the valley and at Mariposa Grove before Thanksgiving 2022.
Slow heat
Purchased 4 packs in the middle of rainy and windy track meet. Took over an hour to warm up and then it got hot, by the time it started working it was no longer needed since the meet had ended. Would not recommend.
HAND WARMERS
I use them inside my gloves on bike rides. They last for many rides as long as you seal them up in the zip lock bag.
Handwarmers
Excellent heat source for your hands on cold days.
great as skiing hand warmers
I have used these hand warmers multiple times out skiing with temps 15-25F. the package is somewhat hard to open but after shaking the packs for several seconds to expose the contents to air, they heat up nicely. I wear them inside my gloves (not too hot for direct skin contact). they have lasted for 2 successive days after replacing them in their packet. I like that the contacts are compostable rather than just trash.
