Sizing notes

This size chart is meant to be a guide only, as Danner styles are built from various footwear lasts that fit each foot differently. Generally, most people size down a half to a full size when buying Danner boots as compared to their shoe size from any major athletic footwear brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really liked these These are the second pair of Danner hiking boots I've owned (also have the Crater Rim) and I'm a big fan of both. Both are good for backpacking, however these are slightly lighter so I prefer these for shorter trips. They come a little stiff, so plan to break them in a bit before using. Fit true to size, good ankle support. Also made in the USA which is rare for footwear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best boot I've ever owned I use these boots as my motorcycle boots, my hiking boots, my working boots, and my walking around boots. These things are amazing! They are so comfortable I sometimes forget that I am wearing boots at all! They look like they could get me through the apocalypse and I am sure they could. Thanks for making such a durable and comfortable product! I don't know if I'll ever own another boot again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Boots I have owned these boots for about 6 months now and they have proved themselves. They are holding up great and are true to size. If you are looking for a boot with great ankle support, that will last you a long time, and will keep your feet dry through varying conditions than this is the boot for you. I tend to wear these when I think I will be encountering mud, water, or snow and have yet to be disappointed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Boot Comfortable boot! I've got several pair of Danner hunting boots and they're the best. Bought the hiking boot based on the brand and they didn't disappoint. Definitely recommend this for anyone who will covering a lot of miles.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well made boot This is a very well made boot that will need significant breaking in but will do the job on and off the trail for years and I wanted to like it, unfortunately I ordered a wide width and even though the boot said EE width, it is not. This boot is tight on my feet like a D width would be so I'm not sure if all EE's are like this or if this was a manufacturing mistake. I did see one other customer mention this same issue on Danner's website. Too bad because Danner makes a great quality boot.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not a wide boot My normal perfect shoe size is a 9.5 W and this boot supposedly runs true to size. Ordered a 10 W. Not wide enough. Ordered a 10.5 W. Not wide enough. Seems like a great boot, just not for the "EE" crowd.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Danner Men's Mt. Adams Mid GTX Hiking Boots Returned due to lack of toe room in my size....not a problem with the boot.

I'm planning on doing the Annapurna Circuit. Will these be comfortable and durable enough for a 2+ week trek? If not, could you recommend another model?

Asked by: AnnapurnaTrekker
These boots are a great choice for an extended backpacking trip.

I am a Vasque fan and these boots sound interesting. How do they compare to the Vasque line of mountain boots?

Asked by: BixbyJack
Danner makes trusted durable products, and this boot is very similar to St. Elias or Sundowner. The largest difference between the two would be the fit, which will require that you try them. What you may have enjoyed in the Vasque fit may be different with this shoe.

I travel between the deserts and the mountains of Arizona. Are these boots breathable enough for the desert? Warm enough for 7200-9000 feet?

Asked by: 84Carrera32
We do not provide temperature ratings on boots because warmth depends on so many different variables including activity level, metabolism, perspiration as well as the other clothing layers you are wearing. However, these boots do have a breathable membrane that will keep your feet cool and do not have any insulation for cold conditions.

Any tips on sizing for this boot?  I wear 11.5 running shoes and my work boots are typically 10 or 10.5. Please let me know if I can get in Carle Place ny

Asked by: Barry Allen
Based on feedback, the Mt. Adams Mid GTX Hiking Boots have been known to run true to length and width. We recommend ordering the boots based off of your running shoe size. Using the "find in store" button next to the "add to cart" feature on can tell you if the boots are in stock at your local store.

Hiking about 30 miles a year, how long do you think these boots would last me? (I would wear them exclusively for hiking) (I ask because I normally buy cheaper brands, but I've always felt that a more expensive brand is worth every penny--should it last)

Asked by: A Boy Scout
If properly cared for, these boots will give you a lot of miles. Not only are they made in the USA but they have a polyurethane midsole which tends to be more durable than an EVA midsole. Unfortunately, due to various factors, we cannot estimate mileage for a particular item.

Considering the different lasts between boots... How does the sizing of the Mt Adams compare to the Danner Crater Rim? I have a pair of snug fitting Craters in size 11 regular. I also wear Saloman Mid GTX in 11.5 regular for reference.

Asked by: MLR7
These boots do fit similarly to the Danner Crater Rim GTX Hiking Boots. If a size 11 is snug, we recommend a size 11.5.
