Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warn with an Athletic Fit - Love it Warn with an Athletic Fit - Love it I bought this product a week ago and I am very happy with the feel and fit. Used this on a recent golf tourney 50 degrees and foggy in the morning but felt comfortable and warm with only a undershirt and the Tech T-shirt. Wore a vest for awhile but soon it off after a hour on the course. I have used it working out in the gym and it seems to breathe well. The feel is very smooth and more comfortable than even a Smartwool shirt. The fit is very nice with a little space in the arms but I think that will work well in cold weather keeping some warmer air between layers. I will have to wait to see the durability of this shirt but since this is a poly blend I suspect it will hold up well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Improved & Still Essential I've been wearing Patagonia Capilene baselayers since their first incarnation many years ago. This latest version retains all that's best while making some well-motivated changes. This baselayer is the place to start for your hiking & expedition needs, athletic activities, or just getting around town in the cooler & colder months. This midweight spans some of the thermal territory that you used to find in the 2 and 3 weight of earlier versions. It's natural comparison is with the 3 -- slightly less hefty but fitting the bill for the widest range of activities. I think it's much more practical than the 3 since it still keeps a body warm in the colder conditions of early morning or higher altitude and yet gives more leeway to prevent over-heating when your hefting a backpack, losing elevation, or approaching the warmer moments of the day. In other words, it covers a good chunk of the different activities & thermal regimes you'd would expect to encounter in hiking (or running, biking...). I tested it out in a two month research trip in Nepal November & December with elevations ranging from 4,500 to 14,000 feet, temperatures from around freezing to the high 50s, and activities from hanging around the fire, resting on the trail, to carrying a backpack uphill. I'd take off layers (fleece, heavy shirt, windshell) but never want to loose this crewneck. And although I had a heavier thermal baselayer with me, never actually used it on this trip. This midweight was ideal. And looks as good draped over your frame as you might have come to expect with the earlier iterations from Patagonia. I'm 6'3" and 200 lbs -- the XL fits perfectly. Colors are vivid & if they hold as well as they have in the past, they'll stay that way for a long time. Dries fast. Feels good. I took just one of these (plus two trusted number 3s in the older versions) with me on my research -- bought two more midweights on my return and expect they'll serve me well walking to my office the rest of the winter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Husband Loved this Shirt I bought this as a valentine's gift for my husband and while at first he wasn't sure about the color, when he tried it on he loved it. It's a perfect red, not too bright or berry, it skews darker rich red. He's 5' 11 and the Large fit him perfectly. The seam detail is also nice, tone on tone so it doesn't stand out too much. Would definitely buy more for him in other colors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best out there I like to wear this when its hot and its amazing how well it keeps you cool and on the flip side if its cold it will take the chill out of the air . Its super light and wick well . Very good !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for cold days I primarily use this as a base layer for running on cold days (sub 25°) and it works perfectly. As I warm up I can shed layers and I usually end up just wearing this. It also doesn't hold smells that much so even if you sweat it doesn't stink.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hubby loves it! A few years ago, I bought my husband a set of these. He had been using his old Army-issue wooly long underwear for years and was hoping for something more comfortable and updated for ice fishing. He loves them! I decided to buy him another set this past Christmas. On the very cold days, he has taken to putting on both sets before heading out to the lake. He stays warm but doesn't overheat, and doesn't feel restricted or bulky with all the layers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All around great shirt I received one of these for Christmas as a gift, and liked it so much that I bought another in a different color two days later... and I'm sure ill buy a couple more. Not only is this shirt great for hiking, but its a shirt you can wear almost any day of the week! I would HIGHLY recommend this shirt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Least expensive, in the long run Patagonia poducts, like this one, are the least expensive in the long run, and most environmentalt friendly, since they last and last. I bought this item on sale, which makes it even more of a bargin.

Does the material shrink at all after washing? I am in-between sizes and having a difficult time choosing from "loose" vs. "snug".

Asked by: DNA Dan
This top is made from 100% polyester and will not do much in the way of shrinking.
