Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use and effective For years I've used a similar product, the now-discontinued MSR Miox, and the technology behind these products is sound-the mixed oxidant solutions they produce really work and have kept me safe in South and Central America. The PA PURE takes the product design to the next level-its rechargeable, and carries the salt in 2 salt reservoirs. I find it very easy to use, and since it uses plain table salt that dissolves easily, I don't see constant "low salt" warnings like on my Miox. You can make enough purified water for a medium size group quickly with this device, all for the cost of salt. I have not attempted to recharge using solar power, but I suspect it will be very slow and it is not mentioned in the manual if the charge LED will illuminate during a solar charge. Overall a fantastic product, that is always in my carry on or daypack. No issues with security or customs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't leave home with it I travel 250+- days a years, I would not leave home without the Portable Aqua PURE Water Purifier. Cannot tell how many times I have checked into a name hotel any found out water system is being worked on, and water "may" be unsafe to drink. This system is not only easy to use, it will clean cloudy water. I may sound extreme here but "what If" there is no running water and you are limited to finding a stable water source, nice to know you can purify. Light weight and will fit in your pocket, SOLAR power, and uses salt the most abundant mineral on the earth. But more then one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quick and simple way to purify water when travelling Used this for a backroads cycling trip through Patagonia and North America. It is fast, simple and reliable to use. On previous trips we have used a filter, but there is always a risk of re-contamination with filters and filtering large amounts of water with a small filter is slow and tiring. With this system we can fill and purify all our water in a few minutes with very little exertion and the bottles also get cleaned by the mixture. Unlike a filter system if a few drops of unpurified water from for example the bottle threads find there way into the bottle they are simply purified as well. When we used a filter we tended to take more risks and just drink marginal water. Because this is so simple we purify everything including all tap water.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better then advertised I carry this when I travel within the USA and international, I was not expecting everythiny I got with unit. It comes with EVERYTHING you need and it all fits in a mesh case they provide. Small and compact, very well thought out, my first choice in safe water treatment. Hope it never happens, but if a natural event happens its nice to know I will have safe drinking water, a basic need

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MAGIC!! This thing is great. I love how it only needs sun and salt to work. Only disadvantage is the chlorine taste. If you let the water sit with the cap off for a while or run it through a gravity carbon filter you get the safety of the purified water without the taste. Highly recommend for camping, preparedness or even traveling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sweet little water purification system I purchased this unit to use on backpacking and backcountry hunting trips. I've used it on a couple of trips so far this year and it's a fantastic system. It's small, lightweight, durable and easy to use. I much prefer it to the filter and UV light systems I've used in the past.

Does this leave any off taste in the water

Treated water from the Aqua Pure Electrolytic Water Purifier will contain chlorine residual to help protect it from recontamination and that residual may impart a chlorine taste.

Can this be used with bladder water pouches (platypus, etc.)?

Asked by: GregT
Yes, the Pure Electrolytic Water Purifier uses a saline solution and electrical current to create a disinfectant you can easily pour into your hydration bladder. It does mean you have to initially fill the bladder with untreated water and there is a minimum 30 minute wait period before treated water can be safely consumed.

Has anyone used this on long distance hikes like the AT or PCT and how did it hold up?

Asked by: szewczyk
This is a great choice as a filter for a long thru hike as it is one of the smallest filters available and it saves a lot of space. We have heard good feedback that it is durable and lasts quite a bit of time.
