My new travel buddy
My Grayl bottle and filter brought me peace of mind on my trip last month to Cape Town, South Africa. I had read that tap water in the area was sometimes hit or miss, so it was great to know that I could always filter the tap water at our rental apartment. It was also handy on little day trip adventures, as was the case at the beach, when we got water from an outdoor spigot/shower area. It also came in handy on a long hike when I needed to top up my bottle. Besides the practicality, I also just found the system fun and satisfying to use, knowing I was drinking clean water that you've purified yourself.
Does the job, still leaks
I’ve had my grayl ultrapress for two years, mostly used for trekking and through hiking around the world, I am very confident in the filtering abilities. Unfortunately, overtime, I’ve noticed that the bottle will leak. After pressing, when all liquid should be in the drinking reservoir, some liquid stays in the bottom of the outside “tube” below the filter. If the bottle is put on its side or upside down, this leftover water will leak out of the top of the outer tube. It does not contaminate your drinking water, but it is problematic in tents, in an overhead bin, sideways in your lap, etc. Otherwise, great water bottle.
Doesn’t Fit
Not sure what could be wrong with this unit. Maybe it’s a one off problem. The ultrapress when I bought it was the best. I recommended it to everyone. I was due for a filter replace and bought the black color vs the original orange (which maybe was a mistake) but ever since then the press doesn’t function properly and water leaks out of it constantly, all over and onto the person drinking it. It’s rendered the bottle unusable since I use it at work and had to stop the use with the water getting all over myself. The original was perfect, it had the orange color and maybe that has something to do with it.
Cool Bottle Made Cooler By Functionality
The titanium is legit and strong, the overall design is cool while being functional and very useful both for travel and making clean water as well as just having a cool bottle to drink out of daily. The bottle seems like it will last. The only problem with the UltraPress is that the cover does not stay connected to the top of the water bottle so there is the potential to lose it - but it does make it easier to drink out of and not in your way when drinking like others that do have the leash. Definitely worth the price as this should be the last water bottle you need to buy for awhile!
Great
Took a trip to Mexico filtered all water through ultra press. Worked good did not get sick as before. Leaked a little. Overall happy and worth the money. Photo is after trip. Will be a long time user. THANK YOU GRAYL
Great tool to have around when outdoors or traveling .
Worked great , used it during a hike . Filtered water very efficiently and there was no bad odors or taste to the water . Helped us stay hydrated all the way from beginning to end .
This purifier bottle system is
This purifier bottle system is user friendly and gives me peace of mind when I’m in the backcountry that my water is safe to drink. I like that I can fill the cup, press and purify the water into the bottle, and then either drink from the bottle or pour it into a cooking pot or my hydration bladder. Another brand of purifier I own ( Water ToGo) only works to drink from. I also like the fact I can use electrolytes in the water. Only downside is that the bottle is a little heavy for us who want to go light. But it is what it is!
Simple, quick, back to business
I’m supremely impressed with everything to do with Grayl thus far. Their support was helpful, shipping was lightning quick (got it in two days coming from WA to PGH, PA), and it is a super easy change. I haven’t had to use the new purifier yet, but I’m expecting it to work just as well as the first, i.e amazingly. Also looking forward to using the new valve to be able to add drink powders which is just brilliant. Grayl just keeps hitting home runs IMO. Blows other popular water filters/purifiers that I’ve used away.
Not sure it works everywhere
This is a great design for filtering water on the go in out of the way places. I’d used it before in Mexico with good results, but recently used it again in Chiapas, filtering tap water on the outskirts of San Cristóbal de las Casas and it seems some pathogen managed to get through as I am sick afterwards. Hard to know if it was from the water or from something else, but using this filter was the only obvious thing I did differently from other times. I had a new filter, so that wasn’t it.
Excellent quality and perfectly useful
I've got 2 GeoPresses and have them so my wife and I would have purified water anywhere we go. Got an UltraPress for everyday carry, and wherever the city water doesn't taste or smell good. Super handy and I trust them to keep me safe. Nice that the older UltraLight and UltraPress are the same size, so replacement parts are easy. The filters are easy to use and easy to replace. The whole Grayl system is simply the best, fastest, and most convenient way to ensure clean drinking water.
