Took my first run in these, today. I have been wearing minimal shoes for the past few years but decided to get into a bit more cushion while still wanting shoes that allow natural movement. The cushion is nice and soft, toe box is roomy and lacing system helps to ensure a good fit (i have a very narrow heel and wide forefoot so this is very important to me.) The outsole was the most surprising feature, for me. The Vibram Megagrip did extremely well on wet rocks/slick sidewalks and although it is very agressive, the shoe felt great on pavement, too. Looking forward to many more miles in these!
I bought these last winter, but had to wait for a trip to the Mexican Riviera to use them. They are cool, comfortable, light and great for walking on rough trails, jungle trails and city sidewalks. Now that spring is here I use them for my daily mountain hike. Great traction and my feet stay dry. The design holds the foot much more firmly than other trail shoes. The only downside is that the tongue is thin and a requires less tightening on the last eye of the shoelace. By leaving the top loop a little loose, I can run, walk, climb nearly all day without the laces putting pressure on the top of my foot. Subtracted a star due to the thinness of the tongue. Overall a very good shoe.
Well built and good looking shoe. Aggressive soles. Took this shoe on a 3 mile trail run straight out of the book. No issues at all. Fits like a glove without being to tight. Very light for such a beefy looking shoes. This shoe has a true fit as do my other 4 pairs of Merrell's. I plan on putting some heavy trail miles on these shoes. Looking forward to racing in them.
I have a pair of All-Out-Blaze that i like so much that I purchased a second pair in case they change the model. The problem that I had with the All Out Peak (I returned it after wearing in the home) is that the heel is cut too high for me. The top of the back of the heel hits me just where the back of my foot and ankle bend. I looked at my All Out Blaze and realize that the heel cup in the back is cut lower. In looking at other shoes, I notice that they with have a low heel cup or a high one. This may not be a problem for some people but it was for me.
Bought these for use as a trail runner, but I have found that they are my go-to hiking shoes. I even wore them on a 2 day, 16 mile backpacking trip, carrying about 30 lbs. Very lightweight with lots of cushion and the tread is perfect for trails.
Serious off-road trail runners. Just bought my second pair when soles started to feel a bit thin after 1 ½ years. Merrill uppers combined with Vibram soles for superb traction on slippery forest slopes. I like the heel-toe balance--comfortable for flat terrain but provides a sure grip for going down hill.
These shoes look like they are designed and built well but I was unable to fit into them. The merrel water proof boots and the low top hiking shoes I bought supported a wide foot. These running shoes are very narrow and probably fit for an arched foot. I was disappointed in the inconsistency of the fit among different merrell model shoes. Always a good idea to try them on in an REI store and have a knowledgeable member direct you towards the proper shoe.. that's how I purchased my first pair last summer.
This shoe is very light, but has good support and soul cushion. The traction is good. It is wearing well so far. I have had the shoes for 7 months and they are holding up well.
These are great shoes whether you are hitting the trails to hike, going for a jog or just wearing them all day. Absolutely a good shoe for the price.
The shoe is comfortable with incredible cushion, but they run very large. I wear a size 14 and ordered the same. When I first put them on they seemed to fit ok and felt comfortable, but as I have walked around in them more I started getting a lot of rubbing/jabbing in the front of my arch. That's when I paid closer attention to the fit and realized they ran about 1-2 sizes bigger than expected. Sadly I'll have to return them, I might try a size 13 instead.
