Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fit right out of the box Just bought these trail runners, on a whim really. I have mid-height Merrell hikers and was drawn to these when I saw them. They are immediately comfortable, great support around the arch (I have a normal arch, neither high nor low -- I also have a normal width foot). The shoe has a nice roomy toe box and good fit on the heel. I'll be hiking and trail running Big Bend for 9 days so we'll see how they hold up! Outside of their practical look and feel, these are super adorable shoes and make my size 11 feet like cute smaller feet!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great even for my bad feet! I got these today at REI because they didn't have the Altras I was looking for so I took a chance and tried these on and even with a bad left foot whose toes splay everywhere and flat feet and other issues, these were great. I took them right out on a flat, sandy and rocky trail with my dog and they were stable in sand and over rocks. This is the first time I have worn all vegan shoes and I think that might be helpful. Because I need a wide toe box I I got one size up and it was perfect. My heel did not come out as it often does and the sides were stable. Thanks Merrell.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Fit. Firm and Responsive Just the right amount of cushioning for me. I was very impressed in various running conditions. The 5 mm lugs handled just fine in firm packed trails, rocky trails and even snow or mud. The toe box is roomy (which i like) and the shoe locks the heel in which makes for a perfect ride. The unique lacing system makes for a super snug fit...I am pleased!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for everyday I got these to supplement my high-top hiking boots and they have worked well for hikes at Denali National Park last summer and Sedona this fall. They dry very quickly when they get wet. The tongue is a little strange since it is attached on one side so they do not look balanced on your foot. I wore thin socks with them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best grip for any surface! I love these shoes! I live in Alaska, I run on snow and ice in the winter and these shoes have been amazing! For mountain terrain they go above and beyond. Comfy, stylish... Would highly recommend these shoes, they will change your running life:)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice trail runners Have been wearing these shoes for a month and love them for comfort and looks! Only had to get a size bigger for the width to feel comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have a hard time finding shoes I have weird flat, but not completely flat feet and these fit perfectly!! They are great on the trail and on the go!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favorite Trail Shoes After years of running in Innov8s or Altras, I bought these as a back-up for an upcoming trail ragnar, and they've quickly become my go-to training shoe. They offer great support and are easier on my tight calves than the low/no drop in my other pairs. I was a little concerned that the toe box would be too narrow, but I haven't had any difficulties with my toes rubbing - and haven't even taped or used any lubricants. Big win all the way around!

I have loved the Merrell Bare Access One and Two shoes. How does this compare?

Asked by: CuriousInFlorida
These shoes are designed for more rugged trail running than the Bare Access. However, the Bare Access is designed as a minimalist shoe with minimal cushioning and no heel-to-toe-drop, while this shoe has moderate cushioning and a heel-to-toe-drop of 6 mm, which gives the two shoes a much different feel. If you have enjoyed your Bare Access shoes but would like to wear a less minimal shoe with a more rugged outsole, these are a great choice.
