I was looking for something lightweight & waterproof for my morning walk through forest trails & wet pastures. These were lightweight & waterproof. However, on day 5 of my hour long walk one of my heels felt like it was going to blister & on day 6 it definitely did. My feet seem to rub the heel area wrong as there is already noticeable wear in that area on the inside of both shoes. Maybe some kind of padding inside the heel area would have made these work? I was hoping these would be the shoes for me. Unfortunately, the fit just doesn’t work well for my feet so I will most likely return these.
Things to consider: These shoes are LOUD! Due to the waterproof liner it’s like wearing a wind breaker on each foot. All you will hear is swish and crackling sounds. Outdoors? You’re good. Anywhere else? LOUD. Due to the waterproof liner it will get very sweaty due to poor ventilation so keep that in mind. I got an 11 but wear a 10 but could have gone with the 10.5. 11 is good for me as I jog. I really wish these weren’t so loud indoors because I’m they are comfy. I will not buy these again for the loudness but wear them exclusively when outdoors until they wear out. Consider the non-waterproof Antora 4 for indoors—I know I am.
The crinkle sound is WONDERFUL. These shoes are amazing. Size 10 M. Perfect fit. No need for my Rx orthotics. They are light, comfortable and great for my walks. This is my favorite shoe. I have osteopenia and arthritis. These shoes have me feeling no pain when I do my daily walks. I personally don’t think they run small, and I have had issues with Merrell’s running small or large depending on the shoe/boot. So excited to see new colors! Just ordered a second pair.
I purchased these black Antora 4 WP's before an overseas trip to wet New Zealand. I sized up a half size and they were a perfect fit. I needed a sleek style for flying business class and a comfortable fit for the long days and these were just right. My socks stayed dry in all my wet weather encounters, the outside of the shoe may feel wet but dry quickly and does not soak through. My only concern is the upper padding at the back of the shoe. It seemed to deform some, but if you are careful to put the shoe on correctly and keep the padding up when inserting your foot, it should be fine.
We did 2 hours of hiking in the driving, pouring rain in Scotland this week. My shoes stayed dry for more than half of it. And we’re totally dry and ready to wear the next morning - amazing!! They have be en fantastic waking shoes as well on our 3 week trip!
I found these sneakers to be comfortable and attractive. They work great for everyday use and for walking the dogs. The only downside is that the padded tongue got wet during rainy conditions.
I love my 3 pairs of Antora 2s. I've been waiting for Merrell to drop the sole that looks like it has paint splattered on the side and was so excited about these Antora 4s in black! They fit a tiny bit smaller than my Antora 2 size 8, but still okay. However, as others have mentioned, they make this strange and loud crinkly sound with every step! You can also kind of feel the crinkle. I can't imagine how Merrell let this go into production. So very disappointing. I returned.
I live in a very rural area and often walk my dog off-road through pastures. In the morning the grass is usually wet and my sneakers would get soaked. When I got these I wasn't sure because of the fabric on the outside but the first time I wore them the outside was soaked but my socks were bone dry. As is typical for Merrell they provide excellent support and are light weight. I did have to go up a half size for a perfect fit.
These are super comfortable so that is why I have it 2 stars or it would've been one. The traction on these is absolutely awful! Why make a waterproof shoe if you can't wear it in wet weather?! I almost fell several times because the bottoms of the shoes were so slippery in the rain. These are the only shoes I brought with me on vacation so now I'm stuck having to spend more money to buy another pair. Really disappointed.
Look athletic. Nice plain black waterproof runner. Comfortable. True to size- ish. I vary between 9.5- 10W, with more of my shoes being 9.5. I kept the size 10 in these. I previously had the ON black waterproof runners. They only lasted 6-9 months and were completely worn out. I am hopeful that these last longer. I do walk regularly in them.
