Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I was looking for. I just bought this bag before my three week trip through Japan and Southeast Asia. It was able to carry everything I needed and some more by the end. I was flirty pleased as I wanted something that would fit as a carry on on the budget flights and had no problems with this bag. I reccomebd a sea to summit bag to go along and use as a day bag or overflow bag in case they actually weigh you bag. (Did not happen to me). This bag was great because while it offered the space and some of the comfort of a technical bag it was much smaller in terms of height. A technical bag may be more comfortable but this gets the job done and is more compact. Very satisfied.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Almost Perfect I really wanted to love this bag and I do love a lot about it. However, I was highly concerned that when the shoulder straps are tucked away, like they would be if the bag was checked while flying, the buckles necessary to use the shoulder straps are just small little plastic bits flapping around on the bag. I could see myself putting the bag down at my feet and stepping on one of those buckles, breaking it, and making the shoulder straps unusable mid-trip. I have seen other Osprey bags that have the buckles tucked nicely into the body of the bag - why doesn't this bag have that? In the end, I returned it. If that feature is fixed, I would love to own it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow I can't believe how much I love it! I ordered both the farpoint 40 and this ozone 46. After all the reviews I read I expected I would love the farpoint more. However, everything about the ozone works for me. I especially like the laptop being close to my back-in the farpoint i know it would have been stressed with a packed full bag with the laptop sleeve being in the front. I carry a 13 inch MacBook Pro. I do like the suitcase style of the farpoint but I packed the ozone with cubes and I don't find it difficult to get to my stuff. I felt like the farpoint was odd feeling high on my back-no matter how I adjusted it. I also like the way I can tuck just the waist belt into the ozone when I just want to throw the bag in one shoulder.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good bag but there's a trade-off Notable Pros: - You can pack a ton of stuff in the main compartment (I'd list all the things I were able to pack, but that'll be boring) - Made for carrying your electronics (i.e ipads, laptops, etc)- inner and outer pockets are nicely padded, feels sturdy and protective, and located strategically for good weight distribution. - Great easy-access pockets on the front and on the sides - Comfortable to wear. It was filled to the brim and stuffed to the seams, still the weight fell nicely on the padded hip belt and felt light on my shoulders. The only two cons are, unlike the Porter or Farpoint, this doesn't fully zip open like a luggage bag and doesn't have structural, padded sidewalls. Which was a major disappointment for me (ordered it online). The reason why I decided to purchase a travel pack in the first place, was to avoid digging down to get to the stuff at the bottom. In all, decided to keep the bag despite my disappointment. I traded off the full access opening to having convenient front pockets (which in my opinion, is handier when I'm on the run and need to get something quick. )

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect overnight business trip bag. I am a business traveler and prefer only one carry on and one checked bag. When I fly I always have a laptop and a complete change of cloths all in one bag. Too many times I have had close calls of missing my flight due to delays or having flight cancellations. But keep in mind the bigger the pack and more you load it down it will get uncomfortable. The pack doesn't come with a Sherpa. This pack in comfort is much better than the Swiss Gear Ibex and carries much more. I give it 5 Stars. It does what I want it to do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great travel bag Bought the Ozone 46 for an eight day trip to Ireland. I wanted a carry-on with lots of pockets for eyeglasses, passport, tickets and water bottle. While the pack is fairly compact, a thoughtful traveler can easily pack everything needed for a one to two week trip. I was able to pack all of my clothes, rain gear, jacket, travel book, camera, small tripod, souvenirs and toiletries with room to spare. The bottom storage compartment is great for stashing dirty clothes until laundry day. The construction of the pack is superb. The zippers are the easiest sliding I've ever seen - no snagging or binding on the curves. If I have any complaints about the Ozone it's that there isn't a side carry handle, and the bag is mostly a top loader (the zipper doesn't run the entire length of the main compartment. Additionally, the padded laptop/tablet pocket is useless for me. I travel to free myself from the web, and try as I might I couldn't find any use for this padded pocket. I wish Osprey would make a version without the laptop pocket for those of us who don't need a laptop to enjoy traveling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why I chose this over other Ospreys I agonized over which Osprey pack to buy and am thrilled I settled on the Ozone 46. Here's why: - Waistband tucks away separately from the shoulder straps, so you can wear it over a shoulder or two for short distances without dangling straps. - Laptop tucks away against the back, where heavy items belong, instead of in the zip-open flap. - Can access three zip compartments without undoing compression straps (because they don't compress across the "front" of the bag). - The separate shoe compartment is a really nice feature I didn't know I wanted. I can fit 4 pairs of shoes in there: flip-flops, flat sandals, low-profile sneakers and ankle boots along with a couple pairs of socks. It's amazing how much fits in this bag overall. I stuffed it very full (including a pretty heavy laptop) and it was still under 20 lbs. but fit a ton of stuff. It doesn't unzip completely, but the organization is great. Plus, this bag doesn't have any "extras" that I don't need. A very clean look and the dark red is gorgeous.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pack OK so far, stated weight way off Just bought this, looking for the lightest pack possible for a larger carryon/pack, as I'm a gram counter. The stated weight blew me away (little over 1 lb), for such a nice, sturdy pack. WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!. The actual weight is about double the listed weight, someone got kg and lbs confused. The pack weights 1 kg, or about 2.2 lb.

Questions & Answers

Can you post a picture of the interior of the bag with it zipped open.  I'm wondering if it opens all the way like the Farpoint and Porter series do?

Asked by: MrBojangles
The zippers on the Ozone 46 do not go all the way down. They will stop at the side mesh pockets.

Does this Bag attach to the outside of the Osprey Shuttle?

Asked by: Farguy
The Ozone 46 cannot attach to the outside of the Shuttle. The only daypack that can attach to the Shuttle series will be the Osprey Daylite.

What are the dimensions of the inside of the main compartment? Also the dimensions of the bottom compartment? As this does not open completely I was thinking packing cubes would be a good idea, but I don't know what sizes would fit.

Asked by: trusttheturns
The approximate dimensions for the main compartment are: 22 inches tall, 14 inches wide, and 10 inches deep. The approximate dimensions for the bottom compartment are 9 inches tall, 14 inches wide and 4 inches deep. Each of these three measurements were taken at the longest/widest/deepest point. To some extent, the bottom portion is flexible since the only thing separating that and the main compartment is a piece of fabric.

Will this bag meet carry on requirements for most airlines (not under seat, but overhead) ?

Asked by: NishaRae
Most airlines require the item not to exceed 45 linear inches (L+W+H). The Ozone 46 measures 45 linear inches and should work. We would however highly recommend checking with your airline though.

Is the hip belt as padded in the Ozone as it is in the Farpoint? Are all compartments lockable (including shoe section at the front)?

Asked by: Lk985
This pack does have padding on the hip belt, although different from the Osprey Farpoint Travel Pack. Only the main compartment on this pack has lockable zippers.

This bag is too big to fit under the seat of most airlines. Please refer to your airline's website for dimensions to look for.
