Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements. Some women's pants are available in petite and tall sizes. Typically petite sizes fit women 4'11" to 5'3". Regular sizes fit women 5'4" to 5'8". Tall sizes fit women 5'9" to 5'11".
PETITE: Generally, as compared to regular sizes, petite sizes are 2.5 inches shorter in inseam, 1 inch shorter in body length, 1.25 inches shorter in sleeve length and ¾ inch shorter in total rise.
TALL: tall sizes are 3 inches longer in inseam, 2 inches longer in body length, 2.5 inches longer in sleeve length and 1.25 inches longer in total rise.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

I cannot say enough good things about this coat! I am 5', 120lbs and the xsmall fits perfectly. At my size its hard to find things that fit properly but this jacket does. I am from Southern California and recently moved to the Caribbean, where we have a wet/hurricane season. I have had this jacket for 1 year and it has held up amazingly. Through the strong winds and heavy rain that seems to fall diagonally I am able to keep bone dry! W/ the detachable hood I can turn this into a fashionable trench coat. If you are looking for a practical jacket that can withstand real rain and transition easily into city life then this is it!
I had my eye on this coat for about six months before I finally bought it. Based on other reviews I was worried that the sleeves might not be long enough. I am 5'6" and normally wear a S, and I have encountered this problem with other coats in the past. I ordered a S anyway, and am pleased to report that the sleeves are just long enough. The rest of the coat is true to size as well. I bought the grey color (porpoise) and must say it is much more flattering in person than online. I've only had the coat for a few weeks, so I can't speak to it's long-term durability or dryness in a down pour, but is has been perfect in light to medium rain so far!
This jacket is perfect for wet conditions where it's not too cold. I often wore it to the beach on cold, wet mornings to photograph the dramatic skies and it kept me dry and seemed windproof as it claims. For colder weather, I layered it with an Icebreaker 360 gsm hoodie underneath, which made for a great combo. When wearing it around town, I consistently get compliments on it and many people are surprised when I tell them it came from REI! Can't recommend this jacket enough! For any fellow petite women out there, I am 4'10" and the XS fits very well length-wise. And since it has a belt, the waist is very adjustable, which is great!
I purchased this jacket for a trip to Italy in the spring. The weather was rainy for 6 of the 11 days we were there. This jacket was waterproof, comfortable, and stylish enough that I didn't think I looked like the average tourist in their bright blue rain slickers. The hood was perfect for days when it was only sprinkling and I didn't want to pull out my umbrella. I only wish the jacket would have been warmer and a little more wind proof. However, if I layered a sweater, sweatshirt, and this jacket, I was fine most days.
I just returned from a month in Europe, three weeks of which was spent in the Swiss Alps. We encountered extremely cold weather with snow and wind. This rain jacket, over a fleece top, proved to be an outstanding combination and kept me warm and dry. I wore it every day of the entire trip. The hood is well designed and keeps the rain off of your hair and face, even over a fleece cap.
Needed a water repellant coat for year round dog walking in DC area. Have used it as top layer in snow and ice conditions; and alone in summer. In summer rain, the lining makes my skin a little clammy, but this coat keeps me dry. Long tie belt is nice. I like the hood and especially the little adjustable bill over the eyes, so I stopped using an umbrella. It's hard to handle several dogs, leashes, dog bags, and an umbrella simultaneously. Pets who get mud on me from jumping - mud washes right off. Also washes well. Coat is perfect solution for me. Lovely grey color. I purchased a bottle of REI water repellant stuff for use in laundry to keep this coat water repellant for years.
I bought an older version of this jacket about 5 years ago. I was frequently overheard saying that it was my favorite item of clothing that I owned. And I wasn't kidding. When it disappeared this spring, I panicked. Thank goodness REI has this new one. This jacket is stylish (I tie the belt) and waterproof. The best part is the hood -- that hangs OVER your face and protects from the rain. I am a very petite woman, so perhaps this jacket fits small, so plan accordingly. Fabric is nice and not too 'crunchy" or loud like many other rain products. My universe is good again... now that I have my La Selva rain jacket!
I looked online at this coat for over a year but hesitated to buy because of some reviews about sizing. I finally decided to give it a try anyway. I am so happy that I purchased it. It's a great looking coat ( usually don't like a belted coat but this one looks good) a perfect fit, washes well and the features are as stated. I've worn it several times during this very rainy spring and certainly is water proof. I'd like to pass on some info about fit. that may help someone else. I'm 5'7" and weigh 165. My bust is about 42". I normally wear a L but ordered an XL in case I wanted to layer for warmth. It looks tailored and fits well without layering and it still is a comfortable fit. with a fleece jacket underneath. So this coat is perfect!
I used this jacket for less than a full season of wet weather in Seattle. It was a great jacket--good fit, length, etc--until it stopped being waterproof. I even thought that maybe it was only "water resistant" until I took it back to REI and realized it was actually supposed to be waterproof. What's worse is that there were a few other of the same jacket returned in the garage sale section for the same reasons. I also had wished this jacket was slightly warmer. It's definitely a shell, not a full jacket--maybe can stand alone in 50 degree weather at coldest. I was bummed, a few months ago, I would have given this 5 stars, but the lack of waterproof-ness is a big deal breaker. A raincoat shouldn't soak up water.
This is cut ridiculously small. I wear a size 4 top and a size 6 bottom, sometimes even a size 4 pant. Had to pay to send the size Small back. Ordered the Medium. Can only just zip it: cannot wear a bulky sweater under it. Actually keeping it because I have a tight fitting wool zipped sweater and I need these 3 benefits: waterproof; past the hips; tasteful color for travel in Europe. Sigh. I wish they'd fix the sizing for American bodies. Also, that toggle/button/thing that tightens the hood? Placed in the middle of the back of the wearer's head? A little strange, sometimes painful. I would love to be able to try on a size Large to see the fit but no REI stores in my town and I'm done.
