Really Hot!
The first time i used one i thought it was a dud, so i opened up my second one. Apparently they take about 5 min to start working. So i ended up having two really hot packs. These things are great. They weigh next to nothing and last forever! Mine lasted about 15 hours. At night i used one in my sleeping bag foot pouch and one in the bag itself. Wow what a warm night when it got about 18 degrees outside!
Great for sleeping warm
I carry these in case the weather turns colder than expected. Used one when cowboy camping on the summit of Mt Whitney last year and it helped keep me warm on a 20 degree night. I think they add about 10 degrees to my sleep system. They do take about five minutes to start working, but last at least 12 hours. It's like having a furnace in your sleeping bad.
Very Nice Product to Have
Bought two to keep toes warm when temps dropped unexpectedly into the 10-15 F range while using a +25 bag. I put them underneath heavy wool socks right on my toes at 1 AM and they kept my feet warm until 10AM when I woke up. Now as I write this at 2PM there is still faint warmth. I highly recommend these if you are an emergency situation where you need to keep your toes warm while sleeping.
