Works Great For Factory Crossbars
Used these to transport an 80lb aluminum 2 person canoe about 100mi on the interstate. They attached very easily to my 2008 Subaru Impreza 4dr sedan with factory crossbars. I secured the canoe with 3 straps; 1 on the bow to front bumper, 1 on the stern to rear bumper, and 1 around the center from front crossbar to rear cross bar. The canoe remained stable the entire trip.
Good blocks, straps stink.
I purchased this item to transport my canoe on my car. The blocks that go between the canoe and car work great. The are made of a durable material and there is a gripping bottom that helps the canoe stay in place without damaging the car. The straps, on the other hand, stink. I would not trust them to hold a conoe to a car, especially if you are going on highways. Instead, I purchased ratcheting straps separately and used those instead.
Solid hold on canoe
I carry a14 ft Mad River Adventure. This affordable system of foam blocks fits snug and prevents my canoe from shifting. Takes a little work inserting canoe into the blocks as it is a snug fit. I just hope these foam blocks will last a while before tearing or degrading. I’ve only made a few 20 mile round trips and they seem to hold a firm grip. Tie down straps included.
Works like a champ!
Second set of these (dog chewed first ones) theses are the best for transporting multiple types of boats.
would not recommend
We bought this to transport our canoe using the roof rack on our Toyota RAV4. It was not secure enough to drive long distances or at highway speeds. After only a few uses the cushions tore. I would not recommend!
Foam blocks great, straps not.
For as much as this kit cost one would think ratching tie downs would be included. Not the little straps. I used heavy duty ratchet type tie downs. After all a large canoe strapped to a roof needs all the secure tying down that it can get.
Transport your canoe with ease!
This product works as intended and keeps my truck from getting scratched up. I wish there was a super long strap for the bow to go down to the front of a big truck.
Gets the job done
Gets the job done, straps are pretty janky though, not exactly confidence inspiring, but for short trips, sure.
Foam blocks- perfect/big canoe needs hardier strap
I have a full sized river canoe. These foam blocks are a game changer on my 250+ mile one way trip to our lake. Any car or SUV. The straps are not big or strong enough for my River canoe alone on this long of a haul. For kayaks they maybe fine. I ended up using the straps to reach to my tied downs on either end but use a large hefty cinch or two for the body of the boat. And if you loose a foam you can get one online through REI.
Not that universal
For the price not that great.Doesnt fit so well on Mad River Adventure canoe .Better than nothing but need to tighten very well or will loose.Other canoes probably fit great.
