New Hullavator Pro's
We currently have the Hull-A-Port's on Evo WingBar's on our 2016 Jeep Wrangler 2 Door Sport and they have served us well traveling the country. But as we enter our early and mid sixties it's getting a little tougher lifting our two kayaks and my wife isn't able to have her and a girl friend or daughter go out on their own because of the lifting requirements. Now, with our new Hullavators she can easily lifts her kayak into position and with the hydraulic assist up and into the locking position. What a difference and I highly recommend them. They are worth every bit of the cost. Also the instructions and installation was straight forward and very easy, took me maybe an hours a set.
So nice and easy!
I just got this installed on my 2018 RAV4 and it’s awesome! Finally got my new kayak that I got a year ago in the water! I think this is going to work well for me. Thanks to a YouTube video I found out that the two units can be taken off the bars for car washes and off seasons. The place that installed them said I’d have to take the bars off too. I wasn’t thrilled about that since my car gets washed practically every week. Thanks Thule!
The ONLY WAY to transport your kayaks
My wife saw someone using the Hullavator system after a kayaking trip and couldn't stop talking about the easy loading onto the vehicle. We needed a way to transport 2 kayaks and considered a trailer, but after researching the Thule Hullavator Pro, we decided to go all in, and got Thule aero crossbars, Hullavator Pro and locking straps. This is the ONLY WAY to get our kayaks to and fro. We're both 69 years old and can manage loading/unloading with ease. And they are really quiet at 70 mph on the freeway. When not in use, the Hullavators store conveniently. And we don't have a trailer to store or drag around with our kayaks.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the Thule Hullavator Pro! I'm glad to hear it has made it so easy for your family to enjoy paddling! I should note that Thule does not recommend installing two Thule Hullavator Pro kayak carriers to the same vehicle. The weight of the two carriers and the kayaks themselves is over the maximum capacity of most compatible Thule roof rack systems and could lead to damage to the vehicle. Dual Thule Hullavator Pro systems is really only recommended for higher capacity systems like Thule truck bed racks.
So convenient
I bought this a couple weeks ago along with a Kayak for my wife, in order not to have to help her load and unload the kayak constantly for her, as she's kinda short and lacks the arms strength to haul the kayak onto the roof of our RAV4. And it is dope. The setup took some tweaking, but now she can get the kayak on and off effortlessly, and I don't need to leave the couch. And the rack comes off the roof rack in seconds also, so no moose horns killing my gas milage when I go to work. It's expensive but if you have a short wife who wants to use her kayak all the time, I highly recommend it, so you can get back to the baseball game.
Pleased with purchase
Worth the money, only complaint is 2 screws stripped and I’ve only had it for less than 6 months.. all was easy fix since they send replacement parts. It makes it very easy to get my kayak on and off the roof of my car and to be able to use it at different locations overall I am pleased with my purchase
I love my Hullavator!
I wasn’t sure that it would work with the Fiamma Roof Rack on my 2016 Travato, but I ordered it anyways. It took some creative engineering to get nuts and bolts to fit the slide parts of the existing rails, but after grinding carriage bolts and square nuts to fit, I got it done. It fits perfectly with the other gear on my roof.
Easy Way to Solo Kayak
I purchased the Hullavator Pro Kayak Lift Assist because I’m 4’11” and want to be able to kayak solo. Mission accomplished tomorrow, the first day of summer vacation. The carrier is easy load my kayak on a Bronco Badlands. I’ve been practicing loading and unloading. Best investment I’m made in a long time.
Great, fantastic, awesome kayak rack!
We bought this last month and finally just had it installed and it works perfectly and is so easy to use that we are thinking of getting a second one…Even though it is quite useful when going out on my own, the ease to use it makes it quite appealing for our second kayak!
Hullavater!!! Just do it.
What an awesome product. It makes it so easy to load up and go. My wife and I find it so simple to use and one of us could load it by ourselves if we had to. Highly recommend!
The difference between getting out or not
I'm 5'2" with a 60 lb kayak and a tall vehicle. I hesitated in getting the hullavator for a couple.years because it's pricy and for me it would require an upgrade if my cross bars. Well I finally bit the bullet and made the purchase, I went with the square bars and even though the 139 was recommended on the site, based on my vehicle, I ordered the 150 because the hullavator needs 4 to 8 inches of overhang past the foot where it attaches to your vehicle side rails. The whole set up was easy to install myself. It didn't take long at all and I went slow to be sure to do it all to specifications. I could not be happier with the purchase as it means I can easily dash out for a paddle when the mood and the weather strikes without waiting on someone else to help me load and unload. If transport is your biggest barrier to getting on the water then just get the hullavator. I do have one complaint and it's more of an annoyance than anything. I had to search extensively to figure out if the racks and the hullavator came with a key to secure things. It appeared that the racks did but the hullavator did not so I went ahead and just ordered a 2 key set of the Thule one key (which was also hard to find on this site) Well I wish I would have gotten the 6 key set as the racks only came with a plastic toggle. Please Thule update your product descriptions to include whether or not your product includes a key lock (especially when your install directions imply that they do but they don't). It was disappointing to spend this much money and now still have to order extra bits and pieces. It would be a simple fix on your end.
