My go-to hoody for climbing
This is by far my favourite hoody for climbing - lightweight yet warm, and so comfy to wear. I own 3 of them as I use them all the time. The size is great - fairly close fitting without being restrictive and the hood is snug. Originally when it was called the Motus is was described as a baselayer, but I think a lightweight hoody is more accurate as I usually wear this over a t-shirt and it fits great. Would highly recommend the product.
Nice Hoody but not heavyweight enough
I bought a Cormac Heavyweight Hoody to replace my Stryka Hoodies, which I've had for 4 years but started to permanently smell. The Cormac is a nice hoody, well made and fits very slim, but it's not warm enough. When I unwrapped it, it felt very light. I went for an 8 mile run at 30F (no wind) and half froze. I run down to 30F in my Strykas with no other layer and no chill but I couldn't do that in the Cormac. I would say it's medium weight and not suitable for below 40F unless you layer. I tried 8 miles several times at 30F to 40F which confirmed: good at 40F but no way at 30F. Paul (New York)
Fit
New pattern, new fit is too large in the body and the hood. I have the previous version which fits well- size medium. When running or walking wind blows hood off my head - because it is too loose, large. Previous version fit comfortably on my head, neck and shoulders. New sleeve cuff does not fit as well and as comfortably. Previous version was great with the thumb loop and cuff band. Back of neck construction change to twill tape rubs my neck, irritates and is not as comfortable as the previous version which had a back neck yoke piece. Fabric is great, same as previous version. I have more than 25 Arcteryx products. My love of the brand is due to great function, materials and fit of products.

Great versatile hoodie
Bought this for a recent trip to Iceland. The weather was moderate 12-15C and windy. This hoody was great. It kept me a comfortable temperature while I was also wearing a long sleeve top underneath. It's very light and easy to pack. Good mobility and not restrictive when I was scrambling up rocks. The hood was great to keep the wind off my neck and I could fit a hat on as well! The hood never blew off which was really good too. I also really appreciate the thumb holes. This is my favourite hoody for versatility and decent warmth, while still breathable. Also fits great and looks cool.
The best material for running
Received this as a gift and immediately went and bought another (crewneck). Contrary to some of the other reviews, the fit for me is perfect. I am large/athletic build with a history of heavy weightlifting. The shoulders/arms are slightly fitted but the body is looser (a comfortable amount, not by a lot) to make a perfect fit for me. The material of this shirt is magic. I sweat a lot and somehow it never seems to hold any moisture. I use it for fall/spring running between 0 and 10C and underneath a Squamish Hoody down to about -10C. I will also occasionally use it to layer over a t-shirt toward the end of the summer. Really awesome piece of kit, can’t wait to put this shirt on again and get out there!
Surprisingly Warm, Incredibly Versatile
I've been wearing the Cormac Heavyweight Hoody for early morning hikes and cold trail runs around the Portland area, and it’s quickly become a favorite. It's warmer than it looks—just the right weight for cool starts without needing to throw on a shell. The fabric feels soft but technical, wicks moisture well, and dries quickly after high-output activity. I especially like the hood—it fits close without being tight, offering good coverage when the wind picks up. It also layers smoothly under a vest or shell without bunching. What I appreciate most is the balance: it works hard when you're moving, but still looks clean and minimal for everyday wear. Classic Arc'teryx attention to detail. Ordered from REI and, as always, the process was smooth and fast. If you're looking for a piece that performs in motion but stays comfortable all day, this one's worth it.
Great Multi-use Layer
The Cormac Heavyweight Hoody has quickly become my go to climbing layer for the fall. Days where it is brisk and cool but you don't want to climb with jacket on - this hoody crushes it. It is like a heavier, warmer version of a sun hoody but lighter than a standard hoody or fleece. It moves and stretches easily under a harness and the sleeves are pretty easy to pull up if you're jamming at all. When it gets colder or you pause at a belay ledge, it layers really nicely under a jacket. The hood is a great feature too and can be pulled up over a helmet. Overall, this is a fantastic, multi use hoody that is comfortable and functional. I've also found it to be quite durable in the time I've had it. Done a couple squeeze chimneys (along with many other days of climbing) and haven't had any issues with tears, pilling, etc.... Would definitely recommend this hoody!
revision request!!
hey there, garment style & material 9/10. really should consider adding a few other colours, like the ones that are associated with the top notch Arc’teryx label (blues, purples, greens). More importantly, put on a embroidered patch instead of a heat pressed one — it will fall off!!! or worse, reflect on the brand as cheap’ing out and not attending to high quality detail

A Quality Garment
Recently tried the new Cormac Heavyweight Hoody out on a cooler alpine hike (14C, light rain/wind) and it provided good warmth under my Theta shell. I ended up buying a Small (I'm usually a Medium, strange Arc’teryx revised fitting this year) the small fit better for arm length, shoulder cut (resulting in a slimmer in torso) and waist length. Fabric is smooth, comfortable, robust, the seams are flat around the neck and I had no seam abrasion from my pack. Hood fit well over a ball cap for light wind, but not crazy about thumb loops. I found that the cut of the hole caused the extra fabric and seam finish to get bunched up at the top of my thumb, I preferred the 2022 Cormac Hoody's simple thumb loop. Overall happy with the Cormac Heavyweight Hoody, it will be a good base or stand alone shirt and I saw that recently a couple of new colours were added on-line, so I'll definitely pick up another colour for cooler hikes.
Great layer!
I wear this as a light outer layer for running and crag days and on top of a base layer under a puffy/shell when on mountain ascents/ice climbing. Great material but wouldn’t call it heavy weight. Its more of a plussed up sun hoody with a mid weight fabric thats soft and great at wicking.
