I live in Yellowknife with constant -30c average temperatures and this jacket is my security blanket!!! The length is perfect for keeping in the warmth and protecting the wind, while keeping my bum cozy. I truly appreciate the lightweight for when I’m walking with the dogs or shoveling. I constantly rave about how this jacket is my best purchase of 2024!
I purchased this jacket about 2 years ago expecting quality that matched its price tag. However, the jacket has not lived up to expectations. The jacket is regularly shedding fine down which has led to a noticeable decrease in its warmth over the years I've owned it. I've followed their support recommendation to wash and dry so that the bundles of down get fluffed out. However, the jacket keeps losing down through the seams in the jacket. The arms are losing down the fastest and are cold within 30 minutes of wearing the coat. The thin nylon is not right for this coat's design and intended funtionality.
I've owned many many jackets, and this is hands down one of the best jackets I have ever had in my closet to throw on for walks, errands, and just general to-and-fro outings. I am impressed with the water-repellency and durability of the arato 30 nylon shell, the high neck and very sizeable hood, the warmth-to-weight ratio, doesn't inhibit a full-stride walk, and the color is gorgeous. A couple of other things to note about that jacket that I think are well thought out are the wrist gaskets (soft and trap warm air in), the double zipper (would appreciate a longer pull tab on the bottom zipper), and the packets because you could pretty much fit your life into both with how deep they are! Mary Poppin Pockets! I debated for a while on which brand I wanted to go with for a new parka, and between the perceived fit of the jacket while looking online, and reading about the construction, I knew this jacket would far outshine most others on the market. I expect to have this jacket for a very long time!
My far best investment I made. Worth every penny. Light, warm, also something to last. Definitely recommend. I've taken size M but realised S (170cm high, 62 kg weight) would be much better. It's perfect!
I love a lot of things about this coat: tailored cut, excellent comfort, light weight, close fitting hood. It's plenty warm on a 20-degree day, even a 10-degree day...as long as there's zero wind. I wish the coat were lined, because a surprising amount of bitter cold wind creeps through those many seams. I really dislike the blank look of the GORE-TEX long coats, but need more wind protection than this puffer provides here on Lake Michigan outside Chicago. I'll still wear and enjoy this coat on many days, but it's not quite the dog-walking powerhouse I was hoping for!
I have wanted to get a long length puffy jacket for years and kept putting it off until I found one that I really liked and this is that jacket. I am 5'7 and lean; I got a Small and the jacket fits perfectly coming down to about mid-calf with plenty of room to layer. The cuffs were unexpected - there is an elastic/stretchy inner that really blocks out any wind coming through. If you love pockets, you'll be happy to know there are 2 deep hand pockets that are lined. A chest pocket that easily fits my phone and more, there are also 2 deep "dump" pockets on the inside. The two-way zipper allows more airflow if you want. The hood is actually a decent size, not too large. Its SO warm and Cozy, just love it. Can say I am actually looking forward to the winter so I can live in this.
I was looking for a lightweight/packable parka that would protect my legs in the cold and this is almost perfect. Pros are that it is lightweight, very comfortable and not at all bulky like many long parkas. It is great for cold weather, however it is not the warmest on windy days - on these days, I would still need to wear reasonably warm clothes underneath. In terms of fit, I'm 5'7" with a 27" waist and usually wear a small. I always end up having to purchase mediums in jackets because of my long arms. I bought a medium and I'm glad I did so I can layer underneath. The arms fit snug, but the body is a bit on the looser side. I wish it hugged the body just a bit more but I'm okay with a looser-fitting parka. Overall, it's a great purchase and I do plan on keeping it. I recommend snagging it when on sale!
rapid run on stock, despite being told there were14 available when i paid for it at the cash for an at-home delivery as the store was out of the color and size i needed.
I didn't know I could love a jacket this much! If you live in a cold environment, early morning and evenings dog walks are toasty warm, standing at the bottom of a ski course watching your kiddo becomes much more comfortable, and you feel like you are in a snuggy yet you can be out and about! Insulation is top notch and fabric seems super durable. All in all this is the coziest jacket I have ever owned.
The cut of this coat is great. The sleeve length was great for me. In addition, the articulation of the hood into the body of the coat was super impressive. I was so excited to find this coat! And then I wore it outside on a windy 32-degree day. I was **cold**. The nylon outer material did not block any of the wind, and I could feel some of the wind through the down. I even asked my husband to step outside into the cold in it, and he too thought that it wasn't warm. I am sad to say that this coat isn't for a Chicagoan who walks a lot in their winter coat. I think it could work for someone who goes from home to car to work. I would rate this coat as fine down to freezing. I wish that Arcteryx would make this coat (same cut) with a Goretex or canvas shell. I am 5'11, weigh 146 lbs, and have a bra size of 32C. I tried the Small on in the store; the shoulders felt a little restrictive. The Medium fit perfectly.
