Wanted something more water resistant for hiking than the raincoat I had packed for 3 week hiking vacation. Chose water resistance over ideal breathability. Like taped zippers. Often buy men’s jackets for sleeve length but this women’s XL was roomier in the hips, not as bulky in the chest and had surprisingly adequate sleeve length. I could layer my Patagonia light puffy vest and a smart wool under it and have plenty of space. It did get a tad warm hiking some days but easy to carry tied around your waist.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been looking without success for quite a while for a jacket to replace a worn out favorite, so was cautious, skeptical and hopeful all at the same time about taking a chance on this one. I glad to say I'm really happy with it. The weight is perfect, I love all the pockets, and esp like the venting zippers. That was a feature from my previous jacket that I'd had trouble finding. The fit is very nice, the hood is great, and the tea green color is a really nice soft sophisticated green. It's so hard to know what to expect re a color you only see online. I also like the length even tho it's longer than my old jacket. A pleasant surprise.
I got soaked spending an hour outside in this when it was only a very light mist. Not waterproof, not even a little. Also very noisy and not breathable.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] North Face is amazing! I bought a jacket from them in 2009 and unfortunately the lining started coming off. I contacted them 1st in 2018 about the problem and sent my jacket in to be repaired. They sent it back and said they couldn't repair it but were willing to replace it with a comparable jacket. I didn't like the colors of my options and was told when I found one I liked they would exchange it. 5 years later they had a record of my situation and replaced it with a new one. I will never hesitate to buy their products as they truly do live up to their lifetime warranty!! It is so worth the money!!!
I bought this jacket a couple weeks ago because I needed a lightweight rain shell. I regret my purchase though because it's not breathable at all, like AT ALL. Even with the pit zips open. It bottles in the heat and sometimes I am dripping sweat when I take it off. It also bunches weirdly at the front when I bend over. This was my first time buying North Face and I was excited to finally spend the money on a good quality shell. I will say, it seems like a durable jacket, but I am super disappointed. Not sure what I'm going to do because I obviously can't return it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this mainly to have folded up in my backpack for when it unexpectedly rains on my bike adventures/commute and/or running in the rain. Anything with ventilation (even rain jackets) is a huge plus for me as I sweat easily. I like how it fit--not too tight and not like I'm wearing a bag. Haven't had it for long, so we'll see how long it will last. The one thing I didn't like, is when I wear a sleeveless shirt under, my sweaty shoulders and arms will kind of stick to the inside of the rain jacket as this jacket does not have the mesh lining.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This jacket is perfect for the rain. I love the variety of pockets and the air vent at the arm pits. It's super light and I can also use it for running or every day use. Most importantly, it does not have velcro, so I can wear it over nice clothes and not worry about snags on clothing. I'm typically a medium but got this in a large because the medium was tight on the shoulders, with many other styles of rain jackets as well. I have not yet washed it so I don't know how well it holds up, but I'm very confident in the North Face warranty!
I love the features of this jacket. The pockets are great. Unfortunately it is too small. My measurements are all within the size chart measurements for a Large but the hips are so tight I can barely zip the coat up. Alas, I will be returning it.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have not really used this jacket in the rain yet. I like the slim fit but had to return a medium and order a large to give room for a sweater or puffy jacket underneath. The arm length was great on the medium and a tad long on the large but all good! I like the dark navy for not showing dirt and as I am about to go to Ireland I believe it will get a workout with the rain test.
