The best 2” pad I’ve used

It’s the best 2” pad I’ve used. The foam is supportive and the self-inflated density is perfect for me (no need to top it off with extra air). It’s great on the ground, or in the bottom of a hammock (especially in the winter for the extra insulation); The surface isn’t slick to where you slide all over the place. I appreciate the differences between the Snooze Pad and other tried and true river pads; this thing is an updated version of a great idea. The tapered shape has padding where you need it, and keeps the wear and tear down on the corners. The straps are attached to the pad so you can roll it up and synch it down easily, but also allow for some more creative uses (it’s pretty big at 6.6 lbs. so I try to get and much functionality out of it as I can) It floats (like all mattresses…) but is constructed in a way that accounts for you to use it on the water. The materials feel as tough as a whitewater raft, but more flexible and easy to roll up when you’re ready to move to the next spot. My favorite use for this I’ve found so far is in the pool. It’s buoyant enough to hold me in a lying or reclined position; but the best use was as a floating table - its flat surface made a nice bar top for gathering around for drinks. It’s also a great all purpose insulator. While it was made for rafting down a river, I use this in the back of my truck bed to wrap around coolers or layer on top of bags. The extra insulation really comes in handy in peak summer heat. HIGHLY recommend this as a great sleeping pad and as a piece of all-around utility gear. *Note: there is a disclaimer on the packaging about the material discoloring if it gets wet. This was my experience, but it mostly faded after it dried out. It don’t mind the appearance and NRS says this doesn’t effect the performance at all.

Multipurpose luxury pad

This is going to be a great multifunctional pad. I would not recommend taking it backpacking or anytime you're trying to be very continuous about weight. But for everything else this is an awesome pad. I've used it to hang out in the yard with my dogs and kiddo, we did little family "backyard camping" night and used it, we've also used it to hang out on the beach, and used it on a car camping trip. I love that it is self inflating! I always have trouble blowing up my other pads and on this one I can just open the valve and let it do it's thing. It's also sturdy enough that I'm not worried about the dogs puncturing it with their nails. Additionally, it's solid once it's set up and there's no shifting with weight differentials even when my toddler was practically bouncing on it on one side. I have not taken it into water yet, but we did get it wet and play on it in a splash pad in our yard and it held up very well and dried off pretty quickly afterwards. One of my other favorite features on it are the built in straps. They are sturdy and incredibly useful so that you don't have to remember where you put the straps. Overall, the pad is easy to roll back up and secure together - you just have to remember to loosen the straps and then tighten them again. I'm 5'8", around 150 lbs, and a predominantly stomach sleeper and this pad was very comfortable. The slightly curved design around the hips made stomach sleeping a lot more comfortable since the width of my body could fully fit on the pad. Would highly recommend this pad for car camping and could even be used for an extra sleeping spot at a sleep over. Since this pad is also intended to be able to be used on the water, my only wish is that it came in some bright colors for water safety.

5 star comfort and packability

As you will see in the photos below, I tried out the new NRS Pad 2 on both a cot and on the ground. I compared it with my other brand of sleeping pad and got family to join me. All three of us found the NRS to be more comfortable for side and back sleeping on and off the cot. The aerodynamic design and size allows this pad to be rolled up quite small. And it weighs less than other pads. If you remember, the older dark blue NRS pads were comfy but bulky and were really hot if used as a pad on a dry-box or cooler. The new dark gray on one side and light gray on the other, allow for you to use the darker side when you want the warmth and the lighter side when you do not. The straps on either end will allow for easy attachment to any boat frame. The only concern is how well it will hold up if used as a cover for coolers. It appears really sturdy and the rounded edges will keep the pad from being worn on the corners. I will not get a chance to use this pad until August when I have a Grand Canyon Trip and a San Juan trip. I will update my review at this time. But all indications are: This pad is a winner.

Your new bestie

The NRS Snooze Pad 2 is a very versatile item! It arrived rolled up in a box, and took little time to read the instruction hang tag and inflate it for the 1st use. I tried it on my home's wood floor, then on top of an area rug. Both times were comfortable, even while laying on my side. It would make a decent quick bed rather than dragging out and inflating the air mattress I usually employ. Rolling the pad back up and securing the straps wasn't difficult, but did require a bit of pressure to squeeze air out while rolling up. The next test took place in my local park on a warm, sunny day. Since I found the built-in carry handle to be uncomfortable on my shoulder, I attached my yoga strap to the securing straps and adjusted the length. With this, I was able to easily walk over a mile to my destination. I also carried a small backpack with water, etc. 1st stop, the metal bleachers. I unrolled the pad on top of one, leaving it uninflated. 3 seated people could have enjoyed the cushioning it provided to watch a sporting event. The surface did get hot in the sun, but my yoga towel solved that. 2nd stop, on the grass under a tree. Unrolled and inflated, it was super comfy and nap-inducing. The day's heat caused a bit of tackiness on bare skin, but my yoga towel again provided a solution. I could have happily stayed there for hours but 1 more test was in store. The pad took less than 2 minutes to roll up and secure and about another 30 seconds to add the yoga strap. 3rd stop, in the back of my SUV. After laying the rear seats down of my Explorer, I unrolled and inflated the pad, which fit perfectly, to simulate car camping. My 5'2" height still had room on its length, and there was space along the sides for bags and gear, while the thinness of the pad allowed headspace when sitting up (because I'm short). If it hadn't been so warm, I would have put on some tunes and hung out. This time, rolling and securing only took 90 seconds. I recommend positioning the straps underneath before you roll so they're in place for securing. Unfortunately, a floating-on-water test wasn't possible but the pad certainly looks waterproof and bonus, easily cleanable. It was fun using the NRS Snooze Pad 2 and I will definitely be bringing it along to many future adventures!

A quality pad that serves multiple uses.

Used the pad on recent trip and love that it is multi-functional. It serves as a sleeping pad, cooler topper (both more comfortable & better insulation), and just a general sit pad that can be used on most any surface. I enjoy the durability of the material(don't have to much worry about it popping like backpacking pads), and the fact that it is self-inflating avoiding the dreaded lightheadedness. I also enjoyed the quality of the straps they were well secured to the pad and the metal hardware gives additional confidence.
