Car camping pot
“I received these products for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review.”
Well unboxing this was easy and simple. Inside the box is a very nice pot stainless steel. A plate cutting board, a spoon and a silicone trevette.
At first glance it is very sleek and appealing. At second glance a person who is a backpacker realizes this is very heavy. This would not be for backpacking or anything that you would need to carry this anywhere. On my scale it comes in at 1 lb 10 oz. Now if you were using it for a group maybe it'd be okay. But as a avid backpacker this is extremely heavy for a 1.7 l pot.
After playing around with it a little bit I do find it quite difficult to unlock the lid. So the handle folds over, securing the lid and all of the contents inside. To unlock to be able to utilize the pot it is very tricky. It seems that it is a odd mechanism to squeeze and twist. I almost feel like I'm going to rip the handle off just trying to get the handle to the open position to utilize the pot.
Boiling water, very simple. On a sotomaster stove, no faster no slower than any other standard cooking pot that I would utilize a camp stove for.
Overall a nice setup for car camping kitchen. I'm not sure that personally I would pay for this particular item. The circular cutting board and silicone mat if you will seems like a waste. The folded spoon is fine however there's a lot of nooks and crevices that soup or whatever you're cooking would get into making it a pain in the neck to clean. The pot itself I think is great The accessories that came with it are a one star.
I wouldn't say this is a no to purchase it's just a no for me. I would prefer to just buy maybe a little bit higher quality pot and skip all of the fluff that's inside.

Lightweight yet sturdy
Although a family emergency made us cancel our Utah camping trip, I was still excited to try out my new Stanley cook set. It’s very lightweight, but sturdy. When I was washing it I filled it all the way with water to see if I felt the handle would be sturdy enough to really hold that much liquid and feel safe about it - and I did. In the pick this is just once can of soup, so you can see it holds quite a bit, definitely enough for a group of friends or a family meal. The trivet on the bottom of the cutting board is very strong and holds it place, I felt no issues with it moving, at least not on my counter top. I also appreciate that there is a little rubber piece for the lid that you can grab to keep your fingers safe from the hot metal, also a nice touch. The spoon is sturdy once you snap it together, and wasn’t too difficult to break back apart. I took the pics with the light to help reference size. Overall for how lightweight this is I like its sturdiness and look forward to using it this spring when we’re able to get back out for some camping!

Great pan and prep bundle for compact camping!
Used this product while car camping on a 2 night trip. The saucepan held up great over our gas stovetop. The plate, spoon, and cutting board all fit snugly within the saucepan, keeping everything organized and compact. We made pasta, beans, eggs, and rehydrated apple sauce in the pan and it heated evenly and nothing stuck to the bottom or sides, very impressive for a camping kit. Being that the kit is dishwasher safe, it made cleanup a breeze when we got home. The cutting board came in handy and with everything being BPA free, it gave us peace of mind while prepping our meals. I found it also to be lighter weight than similar kits I’ve used. May be a little heavy for a backpacking kit, but works great for car camping or quick meals while on a day excursion. Only feedback I would have for the manufacturer would be to make the handle easier to flip up. We figured it out, but took a little bit to figure out how to lock and flip back up when done using. Overall though I will continue to use this as my primary cooking kit and would recommend for anyone needing a lightweight and compact cooking set.

Quick Food/Beverage Preparation, Fit any Backpack
6 months ago
Stanley Wildfare Core 7" cookset fits my hiking backpack perfectly. At the break I prepared some nice/hot meal including a tasty cup of coffee and ramen noodle. Both are made ready by the cookset in very short time. I especially love the "handle" of the pot that serves as (1)the usual heat isolator so there is no need to worry about being burnt or hurt during cooking and after cooking when I dumped hot water to make the instant coffee and (2) a great lock of the entire set while the system is within the backpack as I am running through some really challenged and bumpy terrain of the mountain I went. Additional pad/cook "spoon" provided also helped on making the meal better prepared as I can open the lid of the pot frequently to check if the water inside is fully boiled (there was other brand I used which it was pretty hard to check the water during the heating process) and mixed the ramen soup more like real household cooking in my kitchen. The only negative point I would give to this product is it is slightly larger than the diameter of the opening of the bear proof food canister that I frequently carry to Sierra Nevada thus it could not fit into the bear canister. But overall I am very satisfied with Stanley Widlfare 7" system and would like to recommend it to any outdoor enthusiastic from day hike to multi day backpacking trip as a great cooking company.

Compact and easy to use
As mentioned in the product description, this is an eight piece set that includes a pot, lid, two piece spoon, trivet, and cutting board. It's compact and everything nests within the pot (lid on top). The nesting is useful in keeping the whole cookset together and minimizing how much space it takes in your car/van/backpack. Personally I used it for van camping with a camp stove. The pot is big enough for the majority of my camping trips. It has markings on the outer edge of on side (also visible from inside the pot) that designate 2 cup, 4 cup, and 6 cup measurements. I found this particularly useful when needing to boil 4 cups of water as a measuring cup is not typically part of my camping gear. In my experience the pot cooks evenly. The lid has holes for venting but also for straining. This was useful when cooking pasta and when steaming vegetables. There is a small plastic tab on the lid that can be used to remove it and look into the pot but I found that tab suboptimal when needing to strain. A cloth or potholder if you have one would be useful in this situation. The cutting board is fine except too small for my usual use. It doesn't fit an entire mexican (grey) squash on it so it's size is limiting. The trivet is a nice bonus and works well but not sure how useful it is in a camping/outdoor environment. I like the size of the spoon as often camping spoons are smaller than I would like. It is sturdy and easy to assemble/disassemble. The package insert states the cookset is dishwasher safe which could be a plus once home after camping but I haven't tested that yet. It also recommends the pot not be used over an open fire such as a campfire, in case that is important to you. I like the overall functionality and compactness and plan to add this cookset to my camping gear.

Exceptionally well made and well thought out!
With the holiday season in full swing, I have not had a chance to use this while camping, though I did use it with my J€tboil and it performed flawlessly! (I’ll spare you pictures of the food and dirty dishes).
Material is high quality, thick stainless steel and thus easy to clean. The way the bowl and lid are designed (with ribs for your pleasure), it will NOT be prone to denting, bending, or warping. It’s a large saucepan and can easily hold enough food for two ravenous campers. However, it’s pretty heavy, so I would not think it’s a great option for backcountry camping.
The overall design is SUPERB! The ladle is super easy to assemble and disassemble for use and storage, but I imagine soups and stews will work their way into tiny crevices, so clean it well! The cutting board includes a juice groove (nice touch!) and also has features to prevent bending and warping. The trivet may be over the top for camping, but again a really nice and thoughtful addition. It’s also ribbed to allow increased frosting and prevent or limit slippage.
The whole thing packs up nicely with plenty of room in the pan for other potential essentials likes salt & pepper or spices or an extra fuel canister.
Additional features I really like include a rubber tab on the lid so you can take it off without burning your fingers (and the lid handle “snaps” closed so it doesn’t flop around), the lid has holes to allow straining and also for steam to escape (avoiding steam burns is always good), and the handle on the pan is stiff and not flimsy with a sliding “lock” so you can’t accidentally squeeze and release the handle when carrying a pan full of hot grub. The pan handle also locks in place when everything is packed up nice-nice so it will not accidentally open and the lid fly off. The outside of the pan includes reference measurements in cups and milliliters so Americans can camp with Europeans and share cooking duties.
The only reason for four stars instead of five is because although it is exceptionally well packaged, they use quite a bit of packaging material. Even though it is all easily recycled, some of the environmental folks out there may think it’s overkill.
Kudos to Stanley on a very, very well made prep and cook saucepan set!!!

Quality Camp Pot
This is a high quality cooking pot for car camping. Great for cooking 2-4 people or so, too large for a backpacking adventure. The locking handle on the pot is a great feature and the strainer/steamer lid works well for pastas. The cutting board is probably a little small for anything you'll be using to cook with this larger pot. The trivet also doesnt really add much value to a camp environment. Plenty of empty space to store other items from your camp kitchen though. We havent had the opportunity to use outdoors yet due to some unexpected early winter weather but excited to bring it next year.

Stanley pulls through again!
I used the Stanley in an indoor setting (haven’t been camping yet with it). At first, I didn’t get what the round plastic part of it was for, but quick let realized that with the pot holder please send me a fit, it was a nonslip cutting board. It is rather small for a cutting board though. I prefer using a full size cutting board when car camping.
I like the drain holes in the top; however, I find the rubber handle part not solid enough when it comes to draining off hot liquid- the rubber causes the top handle to fold, so I could end up touching the hot too (maybe my technique is off). I struggle a bit with pulling the pot handle from “use” position to “closed” position (see photo).I also noticed the pot top handle is only “pounded”- with another Stanley product, a friend was able to break off the part, thus rendering the who product useless. I consider this a slight design flaw, but not critical in this case.
Overall, I find this helpful to cook up a couple bunches of noodles. I think it would be a bit big for backpacking cooking pot.

Does the job, nothing fancy
This set works for what it needs to. It’s nothing fancy and is not something I am going to call a must-have, but it does the job. I’ve used it twice on my two burner camp stove now and have no major complaints.
Pros:
- The clicking action of the pot handle is my favorite thing about the set. It is definitely secure and sturdy in both positions, is easy to operate, and is kind of satisfying to do.
- The small silicone piece on the lid handle is a nice detail, allowing you to pick the lid up easily while avoiding burns. It would be nice to have the same on the pot handle, though.
- The cutting board nonslip trivet does work pretty well to hold the board in place. I’ve mostly used it on a truck tailgate so far and it will move if you try to make it, but it doesn’t move for me with normal use.
- The pot is a good size for what I cook. It easily made 6 cups of quinoa and then I used it to cook some sausage and peppers. The heat distribution was good enough for me.
- The spoon is sturdy and actually a useful size to allow you to scoop food effectively. It breaks down to a convenient size and I’ll probably bring it with for cooking when I plan to use different pots/pans too.
- So far the pot has been easy to clean, though I haven’t burned anything (yet) so can’t report on trickier cleaning situations
Cons:
- Cutting board is very scratched/cut up after very little use. It does the job, but I do not expect it to last long. It would also be great if the cutting board had a small lip to help hold food on it and even make it easier to use as a plate. This would not impact how it fits inside the pot, but would be a helpful detail to have.
- Product info inside the box states “Cooking over open camp fire flame is not recommended” and “do not place directly on hot coals” due to temperature control concerns and not wanting it exposed to extreme heat. I was glad I read this because I’ll use this mostly for car camping and I often like to cook over the fire. Every product will have limitations, but it would be nice to not need different equipment for a common style of camp cooking.
Neutral:
- It would not work well on a single burner or compact stove due to the wider base
- Advertised as a 6 piece set, but is functionally 3 pieces of equipment (pot/lid, cutting board, spoon). the spoon counts as two pieces and the cutting board with non-slip attached trivet count as two pieces. The product info is accurate, but this is something to be aware of.
