Quality and size issue
I've tried 2 years in a row to buy this jacket. In 2024 I bought in a small (my normal size) but this jacket runs really really large so I had to return it and at the time they were completely sold out of the XS in all colors. No problem, I bought a different jacket in the interim that I use on a regular basis. This year I wasn't wowed by the colors offered, but decided to buy when it went on sale-it took about a week to get to my house and the jacket was probably not packaged correctly. Within an hour of light wear (we walked to a bakery) it started to shed some feathers out of a hole in the front that I didn't notice so again, had to return it and they are now completely sold out of my size. For >$300 jacket I expect better quality, especially from Patagonia. I own multiple different jackets from them and it just seems the quality of this jacket isn't on par with the brand. The jacket itself was super comfortable and lightweight while still being crazy warm so sad to have to return it at all but I would typically use this for back country skiing and not sure it would hold up.
Soooo good! Comfortable and very warm!
The Fitz Roy is like a warm hug I didn’t know I needed. Arms are perfect length for me and it’s roomy enough that I can layer underneath. I have the down sweater too- use that for warmer days or under a shell. I’ve read several comments about the left pocket seam being weird- it’s actually designed that way to function as a stuff sack for the jacket- turn it inside out and the whole jacket stuffs inside. If you’re using this as casual wear, maybe that’s annoying, but to pack in backpacks, it’s awesome!
Cozy and warm, shorter sleeves on the small
The jacket is nice and warm and does not make you look as marshmallowy as other puffer jackets. It's definitely not as fit and tapered as the down sweater and has more of a boxy shape. However it is soft enough that it does fold in around my waist giving me a slight figure. The Fitz Roy also covers my bum slightly more than the down sweater. That little bit of extra length also makes it slightly less boxy, more of a rectangular shape vs a square. The small fit me better, but as a 5'10" woman the sleeves were a little short. Which was surprising for me because Patagonia is one of the only brands I can depend on to have consistent long sleeves. I exchanged it for the medium which definitely makes me look bigger and has visually puffier sleeves but at least it has the sleeve length I need. I bought both the down sweater and the Fitz Roy in the same plum color and it has been difficult justifying both. I almost have less use for the Fitz Roy because when it gets cold enough to use it I typically grab my Down With It Parka so that my legs get some coverage. But I adore this jacket. It feels like being wrapped in a down sleeping bag. I just need to find more uses for it.
One of the warmest jackets I’ve owned
This insulated jacket is very warm. I wear it for tasks big and small when the temperature is below freezing and I’m never cold. It does run a little bit larger than expected; longer in the body and puffier. When I sit down it really bunches up in the stomach area.
Great jacket
I ordered a small and it fits perfectly with room for layers too, is very warm, and overall feels cozy to wear. The color is exactly as shown. I plan to wear this jacket for a long time!
Incorrectly Sewn Pocket.
I love the warmth and it's soooo soft and comfortable. Sizing is spot on for Patagonia (5' 3" and 130 lbs - ordered size small). I love the hood too and adjustable hip band as well. I took off a star because the pocked on the left side is sewn incorrectly and so the pocket is half the size and has a weird seam. I'd love to exchange it but purchased on sale and don't know how to do that with REI. Would love a more functional jacket for this price point.
LOVE LOVE LOVE
I love this jacket! It's light, fluffy and comfortable as well as very WARM. I tested it out while walking the dog on a very windy and cold day and it was perfect! And the Endless Blue is a beautiful color-well done.
love this jacket!
I love this jacket so much. I wore it when I summited Rainier last summer. Now I wear it every time it gets cold here in the PNW. I’m usually a size small/medium in things. I got a large so I can layer and be comfy. Personal preference but I don’t think I would’ve liked the small or medium, I like the bigger one. The hood is really nice fitting over the helmet too.
Awesome jacket, super warm & comfy!
Really love the color, fit & warmth of this jacket. The pockets are a bonus!
