So warm and cozy
We’ve only had a few sub freezing days since I got this coat, but it is amazing. I’ve used it to walk the dog at night, and I find that I do not have to open the bottom zip part of the coat for a casual walk, but I like that I can if I need to. The sizing especially in the mid section is more generous than other Patagonia, women’s coats of the same size. (Large). There is plenty of room for wearing a warm layer underneath this coat. The hood is very nice and I was able to adjust it to fit me. I am almost 5’4” with a curvy build, size 10. Normally I’m exactly a size large in Patagonia. This is looser than my other coats and jackets. The pockets are warm and snuggly, and I’ve been able to put my XL iPhone in side pockets with no worry that it won’t stay. Just note that it’s not zippered side pockets, there’s a snap closure. The pockets are deep enough that it probably won’t bother you. Personally, I enjoy having bigger pockets. The fill is just right, plenty of loft, but not extra bulky. For being a very long coat, the weight is fairly light, but I wouldn’t call this a light/ medium weight overall because there’s a lot of coat here. You could probably fold it into a suitcase, but it is not packable into its own zippered case. I would describe it as about half the bulk of a down sleeping bag. I personally appreciate the subtle branding. There’s a matching tone Patagonia label on the sleeve, but no bright colored labels. I find this makes it less casual and more versatile/adaptable, plus I don’t really need to wear the badge. I wish there were a coat hook inside, but I will have to use clothes hangers to store my coat.
perfect
Finally replaced a 15+ year old Patagonia parka I’ve outgrown. This full-length marvel has already proven its worth during several sub-freezing dog walks. The hood stays on my head, inner knit cuffs keep the cold out, and the choice of bi-directional zipper and/or snaps is awesome. I’m also thrilled that Patagonia is starting to scale back the visibility of its branding, which has been a turn off for me. Though not the same as the tone-on-tone embroidery of yesteryear, the subtle screen printed branding on one outer cuff is fine. Wouldn’t have bought it with a more ostentatious label.
Nice Jacket but Hate the Snap Pockets
I am heartbroken and torn because while I like this jacket, I plan to return because I cannot stand that the external pockets aren't zippered. This jacket is a great, long length and super warm. The material is satin-y, and I love that the sleeve cuffs are a tight, stretchy material. However, I cannot stand that both of the external pockets are each held by a single snap closure. There is a small, internal zippered pocket, but I don't want to have to unzip my coat every time I need something from it, and it can't fit that much anyways. I do a lot of recreational outdoor activities in winter, as well as travel often, visiting large cities and taking public transportation. I don't like the fact that in a $430 jacket, my belongings could so easily fall out or be pickpocketed since the pockets are so exposed :(
Warm, but fabric not durable
Super warm & the length I was looking for. The hood fits nicely, and it has deep, warm pockets. I love everything about the coat except that the outer fabric isn’t very heavy. It already has a small hole in it, and I’ve only had it for about a month. This is very disappointing! For $400, I expected it to be much more durable.
very warm but not for everyone
this jacket is like a hug or being wrapped in a blanket. but the exterior fabric - though 'silent' is easily stained and maybe not the best for long term everyday wear. I am also a 5'4" woman and felt like I was playing dress up. Hope patagonia comes out with this coat in a mid-thigh or knee length option for shorter ladies
wonderful coat
This is a fantastic coat, love the long length. The cuffs in the sleeves are great. Quiet soft warm coat, very happy. Nice room in shoulders compared to the nano puff which I think runs a bit narrow across back. Sleeve length is perfect but I have short arms. Zipper is very smooth, very happy with purchase.
Best Parka Ever !!
Great purchase, the material is very soft and durable. It will keep me very warm,my only complaint is it very long for someone who is 5’3 but it will do the job. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a high quality parka.
Best down coat ever.
Bought for my daughter for DC dog walking duty ! She absolutely loves it ! So light. Long so her legs don’t freeze. I honestly want one for myself !
Not very warm
I was so looking forward to wearing this coat and being cozy warm. It is a very comfortable coat....but not warm at all. It was 19 degrees today. I put the coat on and walked outside. Nope. It's so lightweight that the cold air just rushed up the bottom of the coat. Also, I agree with other reviewers that the material is super thin/fragile. Definitely not worth $400.
