Great Upgrade from Fenix 5X Plus!

I've been using the Fenix 5X Plus since it's release and had no issues. When I saw that the Fenix 7 was touchscreen, I had to get it. It's definitely a huge upgrade from the 5X. I also like the "light" feature which comes in handy. Also, the ability to change the "data" screens in real time using the Garmin Connect app. is a nice change. Setting up was pretty easy. I almost purchased the Fenix 6 during the holiday season, but am glad that I waited.

Love it but faulty device cause for return

I upgraded my 6 Pro to a 7X Solar and at first loved the new product, both the bigger size and the features. However, I believe I have a faulty unit for several reasons: -The solar intensity is no longer working properly; even when in full California sun the amount is not increasing as it did over previous similar days. I run and work outside for at least 3 hours per day. For example, today it increased 0.1 lux while sitting in direct sun for 10 minutes (with the watch purposefully directed at the sun) -I have also noticed my stress level is extremely low (0-5), when more typically it would be around 10-25 in similar situations in recent days. I have a 6 Pro on my opposite wrist that is consistently registering around 10-25 while the 7X is reading 0-2. Even though I am at "rest" while here at my computer, this does not match with my recent or more historic measurements using the 6 Pro. After a 1:00 run this morning, my 6 Pro was measuring typical values for me post-run of about 40-50, while the 7X ranged from 0-5. -even when turning my key backlight to only go on after sunset in general use, it goes on even during the day before sunset -When using the HR glance, the backlight turns on and does not turn off, even with my settings turned to 4 seconds. I have completed two factory resets but this has not fixed any of the problems. I also completed a software upgrade today from version 7.20 to version 7.24, but this has not fixed the issues. I am disappointed that I appear to have a faulty device. I give the product a 1-star, but thanks to REIs return policy I will be returning the product and sticking with my 6 Pro. I would advise avoiding a new product such as the Fenix 7 until some time has passed for Garmin to work out the bugs and implement the proper software updates. This will spare you the time and energy I have wasted on trying to correct the issues on my unit.

Perfect watch for fitness functions AND looks

Great watch! The heart rate monitor seems to be spot on. The pulse ox sensor seems to be accurate too (no way to tell for sure without a secondary pulse ox tool)

Extremely inaccurate GPS!!! and short battery life

Came from Coros Vertix2 because of ski trails names and colors in the watch and group track. Group track worked for 20 minutes than stopped and never worked again! Battery barely made it true one day of skiing! Worst GPS accuracy I've seen in Garmin so far, my wife's $150 venue SQ Workman much better, see the pictures. Sleep tracking is inaccurate! body battery is a joke! Weather seems to show weather for my home location not my current location despite correct in settings solar charging is a gimmick and it make screen looks small and outdated because of the distance to the bezel. Blood O2 was inaccurate and actually couldn't take a measurement for 3 days straight right whe I was in the mountains. Build quality can't even compare co Coros Vertix2 $300 more for Fenix7 and no titanium and sapphire glass! fills like plastic toy in comparison. That's to REI amazing policy I can return this and get Coros back. Only thing I will miss is the flashlight. Other than that I'm very disappointed in this product.

Sick watch

So much good stuff, where to begin? I had the fenix 5x sapphire, so my comparisons are to that one. This watch is lighter, bigger, and the interface action seems to be a little quicker. I use the light more than I thought I would. The solar doesn’t really recharge it, so much as it slows down the battery loss. I think I’ve charged it twice in the two months I’ve had it. The touch screen isn’t a “need” but once you get used to it, it’s not bad. I did a lot of comparisons to the croons too but it seems the consensus is the garmin platform is still better and more user friendly, especially if that’s what you’re used to. I was nervous about not having the sapphire crystal on this one, but no issues so far.

absolutly love my watch

this is my second Garmin Watch so i opted for the size X which at first i thought was a bit big however after wearing it for a few days i got accustomed to it really fast it was actually very comfortablle even at nights for sleeping. i am totally addicted to my watch its like i cant function without it. the only thing i might change a bit is getting a better understanding of the solar charging. To me it doesnt charge the watch it just slows the discharge rate. there should be a feature where upon opening the feature which shows the LX hours for the day it should go a bit further to explain how much percentage charge was gained for that period.

Powerful but Complex and Difficult

They shouldn't push me for a review, having only owned it for about a month. I consider it a high priced investment in what should be the best running tool available. It should have all the functionality I can hope for, but it will take time to learn, and the learning resources are questionable. The 150 page manual should cover it, but it doesn't. Many details are missing that one needs trial and error attempts to figure out. The phone app appears ok. The PC app ought to use Bluetooth as an option, along with the required hardwire attachment. It is still early. I am committed and hope to realize all of its benefits and advantages.

Garmin fēnix® 7X - The best watch

Have used this watch for a few days/weeks, Garmin is still the top leader when it comes to watches that are used actively in training, the solar cell function is fantastic, nice appearance of the watch, good build quality. useful functions Battery life in Garmin watches is calculated in days, not in hours.. As some other manufacturers have.. :-p I use this watch actively in training and everyday use, The screen is protected with a small edge on the surrounding frame. The flashlight function comes in handy when you need it. on training mode which creates a map of the trail you are running is quite accurate A++!!
